The railway station is very large and lovely. This was the first time of arrival, spent some time to wander around, then bought the train tickets and headed to town.
Advance tickets booking might be necessary if traveling during weekend, don't forget the passport especially foreigner tourists.
Aim to arrive here 40 minutes before your train. If you don't have a ticket than make that an hour at least and cross your fingers.
If you can buy your ticket through one of the agents in town then do so (ask your hotel or staff). The queue can be terrible and the electronic machines accept the new resident card only.
Prefer to take the train from here to Beijing or Shanghai. Never delayed.
Business class is excellent. Best way to travel.
Avoid it for short trips such as GZ to Shenzhen unless you are located close by the the south Station.
It is a located a long way from down town GZ.
It is a Huge & Massive Railway Station. It is a station for High Speed Trains & has connectivity with the metro train aswell. You just cant ask for more in a railway station. Its just wonderful experience to travel from here.
I am a native citizen in Guangzhou. I have been to Guangzhou South Railway Station for five times, four times to Shenzhen, a city near Guangzhou and to Changsha for once.
-Circumstances
It is a huge railway station, being the second busiest railway station in China, quite clean and enough seats and rooms for passengers. Food are not expensive as Baiyun Airport, and there are a lot choices to choose from. Security checking are quick enough. And also clear guiding.
-Tickets
There are three groups of counters for buying tickets at the southwest, southeast, and northeast corners of the station for convenience. Ticket changes are only handled at the northeast and southeast counters. Ticket refunds are handled at the southeast corner. Tickets stop being issued 15 minutes prior to departure.
Hope you have a wonderful journey!
Great facility, quite big, should arrive 1hr earily
The fastest ever train travel i've experienced., Great time with helpful virtual instructions .,
The station is linked to the subway. It's convenient to go there. It is far from the downtown, be sure you have enough time to catch the train. Inside the station, the instructions are clear and helpful.
Very efficient station. Linked directly to Subway. And Night Bus available for late arrivals.
