It looks messy and somewhat rundown from the outside, especially with so many taxi owners hunting for passengers, but once past security, the station is actually pretty clean and orderly. I had no problem at all finding the waiting area for my train to Hong Kong.

Traveling back to Shenzhen same route as coming to Guangzhou couldn't be done on that weekend as the train tickets and standing tickets were sold out. Inspite of arrving Guangzhou South Railway Station, then had to take the MTR to the East Railway Station (32 stops). Luckily, the train tickets here were available only 79.5 RMB (second class seat) for bullet/high speed train type C. It took more than an hour for arriving at Luohu. This might be a fun experience but so much time spent really!

It's not too difficult to find the way, but I almost missed the train as the ticketing system is not efficient. I needed to walk in quite a distance to look for the ticket office which is supposed to be at the entrance or near by the ticket vending machines. No clear signs or floor plans to help.

The station has improved a lot, from cleanliness, safety to the options of eateries and the layout of the whole place. More shops have been added like Starbucks and KFC, with better lighting and clearer signages; but the security check at the entrance do take some time due to safety concern

Used to be chaotic especially during Chinese New Year holidays, but the station has become more orderly and efficient; people generally obey the rules of queueing up and not scrambling like in the past

The ground transportation is extensive, you can take a taxi, bus, subway or just walk to a nearby hotel. There's also an IKEA store few miles away, though always crowded but IKEA fans can still enjoy shopping there

Busy, but so is everything in the city. Staff I'd friendly enough and they get the job done. Immigration moves pretty quickly as well for those trips to Hong Kong.

Clean and friendly train station, quickest way to Shenzhen or Hong Kong. Automatic ticket machines do not display English so head to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen ticket counter and purchase from attendant. Signage is just enough English to direct you to your platform.

This is the station to go to Hong Kong but it can be very busy here and always carry your passport because you could be asked to show it by random police officers.

Easiest way to get to Shenzhen or take the through train to Hong Kong. It can get very busy around festival times. I always use the automated ticket machines when i travel to Shenzhen so i don't have to queue, just swipe your passport and select your ticket, though it is only in Chinese language. There is a Burger King, a KFC and a McDonalds. Also, underneath is a massive shopping park.Try to avoid the station on national or public holidays or festivals. I have seen a couple of hundred thousand people here during one of those type events. Best to just walk away from that because you are not going anywhere.
