Let's be honest, the reason you're going to this zoo is the pandas. And they're great. Definitely go early to see when they have food and might be up moving around and eating. I went at 10:30-11 am or so and several pandas were up and about and eating. Other than that, this isn't really a high-level zoo. Many of the exhibits are older and aren't up to the expectations that many who have been to big-city zoos in other countries will have. When I was there in November hardly any animals in their exhibits, and the zoo generally felt pretty empty. Worth visiting for the pandas, but I wouldn't spend too much more time there.

14 yan only to see Panda.
Nice experience to see Panda bear, but bigger animals in winter time are basically in a heated box not much room for them to move and thats not positive experience at all in my opinion for example elephant, giraffe, rhino and others are in small cage.

There are lots of animals from all around the world and it seemed that they have good quality cage and they are fet well.

The animals that are in glass cage or iron cage are impossible to photograph since the bars or dirty glass ruins photos.

Also i have seen too many time people feeding the animals in one visit. Not fruits but bakery food and junk food which can basically kill the animal or mess up their bowels.

One of the worst places I went to in Beijing. Some serious animal cruelty taking place. Polar bears were living in 25 degree heat, well above their natural environment. Pandas and elephants were in extremely claustrophobic cages, with no space to breathe. The zookeepers need to have a good, hard look at themselves.

Cheap price to see pandas. We entered through the south side gate directly next to panda house. We viewed s few other exhibits. Some animals seemed fine (some pandas and zebras and monkeys). Some animals seemed unhappy (giraffe and a few kangaroos). We really enjoyed the ducks and waterfowl. Some Asian guests continually fed animals and a few were banging on the panda and kangaroo glass walls. Towards us, everyone was very friendly.

    Zoo has English maps also.

Horrible conditions for the animals. Too hot, too noisy, too dirty, Chinese kids and their parents don't know how to behave. They bang on cages' windows like idiots, yell all the time. I feel really sorry for the poor animals. Same thing is inside the aquarium. Many species are put in tiny aquariums for 'fun effect', just look at the red fish on my photo below. "Or, how cute! So many fish come to my side to take a photo with me!" After seeing that, I ran away from that hell place. By the way, a ticket to the aquarium costs 150 yuan-which is absolutely doesn't worth it. Don't waste your time and money, go somewhere else.

Although I am mostly against zoos, this one was not that bad! I don't get why people say this zoo is terrible, it's actually decent. All the animals seemed happy in their enclosures. The Australian sector, however, was a different story. The cages were filled with feces, and it was dusty and had not been cleaned in a long time. The gift shops were nice though, as the prices were reasonable and the items cute. I got myself a little panda toothbrush! :D

This is a pretty large zoo and you're going to need a map because there are many small paths to traverse!

Thе Zoo is really depressing. The panda was lying emotionless on the floor, while kids were banging on the glass. Other animals were anxiously walking trying to get to their back areas, which were locked. The polar bear was confined to an extremely unnatural environment all covered in plastic, with no natural light! Most cages lack natural lighting and air! The space for the cheetah is too small. People were throwing junk food to the brown bears and there were no guards around to stop them. The animals seem neglected, anxious or deprived.
I went there to take pictures for an environmental project and unfortunately the conditions were much worse then I expected. I know that there is no solution to this, zoos in general, but please at least keep quiet in the zoo, don't scream at the animals, bang on their cages, or give them junk food!!!

They do not clean or keep up with the pandas atmosphere looks like a junk yard. Pandas need green grass and trees they need see lots of green and a pool. I saw couple pandas with only rocks. During summer they need ice play with and a pool. I saw none of that. China suppose represent pandas. At the zoo they treat the worst. Other zoos treat there pandas so much better.
