TODAY we welcome you to Touchstone Church- “A MULTICULTURAL COMMUNITY OF BELIEVERS WHO LOVE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND LOVE EACH OTHER, REFLECTING THE REAL FAMILY WE ARE IN JESUS CHRIST. WE EXIST TO RESTORE LIVES TO GOD, BUILD A FAITHFUL SPIRITUAL FAMILY, EMPOWER PEOPLE UNTO PRAISE AND WORSHIP, DANCE, PRAYER INTERCESSION AND THE WORD OF GOD”. We believe you are valuable to God and we want to help you in any way we can as disciples of Jesus Christ. Welcome! We believe you do not come to Church; YOU ARE THE CHURCH and we celebrate and worship Jesus Christ! We have contemporary style worship services every Sunday morning at 8.00am and on Wednessday 5pm - 7pm. At Touchstone Church, we are ordinary people from all works of life, different peoples group and nations. We seek to love God with all of our hearts, souls and minds, and to love our neighbours, both near and far, as ourselves. Empowered by an extraordinary God, we strive to obey Jesus’ command: “THEREFORE GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS, BAPTIZING THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND OF THE SON AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND TEACHING THEM TO OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU. . .” (Matthew 28:18-20).

About Touchstone Church and WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT MINISTRY!

The word Touchstone refers to a mining instrument used to test the genuineness or quality or excellence of pure gold among other metals. We say, Jesus is the criteria for determining the quality or genuineness of anything! Jesus is our Touchstone, the “reference point against which other things are evaluated”. Jesus is the standard by which anything is measured or judged. Jesus is the Touchstone of TRUTH, “the acid that eats away the false”. Jesus Christ is the HEAD of Touchstone Mission Baptist Church, and everything we do revolves around Him who is THE STANDARD for a Christ-Centered ministry (Ephesians 4 : 11 - 13). WELCOME ONCE AGAIN TO TOUCHSTONE CHURCH : a real place for YOU, a real place for YOUR FAMILY. We love you! Feel free to worship with us and stay with us! We believe God has called us at Touchstone Church into an intimate fellowship relationship with Himself and the community of God, known as the CHURCH. Today we ask you to join us in this fellowship relationship with Jesus and with those of us who have previously chosen to publicly identify with Jesus Christ through baptism and with His Body – the Church – through membership. The process of becoming a member is personal, simple and important. It begins with Touchstone 101 or 102 class, a course exploring who we are, where we’ve come from and what we value. Those who indicate a desire for membership are interviewed and recommended to the Church Board for membership. Take note, at Touchstone, membership is not about having a name on a list, getting a vote or any discounts to anything the ministry has. IT IS ABOUT A COMMITMENT TO WALK TOGETHER WITH THE PEOPLE OF TOUCHSTONE AS FOLLOWERS OF JESUS, SO THAT WE CAN :
1. Live our lives according to God’s instruction;
2. Actively embrace and support the mission of Touchstone, and participate regularly in worship;
3. Make ourselves accountable for our spiritual walk;
4. Make ourselves available for service and ministry;
5. Consciously identify and reach out in love to someone near us who has yet to know God personally;
6. Assume financial responsibility to help fund the ministries of this church family in any good way you can – through sowing seeds of faith, donation of material things, offerings and tithes;
7. Commit to loyalty – praying for and supporting our leaders, refraining from gossip, choosing to think the best of each other until proven otherwise, and dealing with offense and / or conflict up front and in a spirit of love.

THIS IS WHO WE ARE IN A NUTSHELL. WELCOME AND PLEASE JOIN US AND FIND YOUR PLACE IN THE CHURCH AND BEGIN TO EXERCISE YOUR TALENTS AND SPIRITUAL GIFTS IN ANY AREA OF THE MINISTRIES OF THE CHURCH.
At Touchstone Church you will discover that the people are mobilized and trained to care for and help one another. Each member is a servant. The members use personal evangelism to share the good news of the gospel with their neighbours and families. Each member has a responsibility to minister when they see the opportunity, and exercise the authority and power they have in Jesus Christ to do exploits for Him. “AND DAILY IN THE TEMPLE, AND IN EVERY HOUSE, THEY DID NOT CEASE TEACHING AND PREACHING JESUS AS THE CHRIST”(Acts 5:42). At Touchstone Church Baptist we believe every member is a minister in Christ’s body. “Every member has a different function. Every member’s ministry is important. Every member belongs to the others.”
“EACH OF US IS A PART OF ONE BODY OF CHRIST. . . THE EYE CAN NEVER SAY TO THE HAND. ‘I DON’T NEED YOU.’ THE HEAD CANNOT SAY TO THE FEET, ‘I DON’T NEED YOU.’ AND SOME OF THE PARTS THAT SEEM WEAKEST AND LEAST IMPORTANT ARE REALLY THE MOST NECESSARY!. . . SO GOD PUT THE BODY TOGETHER IN SUCH A WAY THAT EXTRA HONOUR AND CARE ARE GIVEN TO THOSE PARTS THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE SEEM LESS IMPORTANT.”(1 Corinthians 12:13,21-22,24b).
In God’s architectural design for ministry in the local church, God has already designed our “form” or “shape” which determines what “functions” we can serve in the kingdom of God here on earth as revealed in the Scriptures. And as such, we insist “We are a body – not a business! We are an organism – not an organization!” Therefore, we function on the basis of Spiritual Gifts, not the elected offices.
“JUST AS EACH OF US HAS ONE BODY WITH MANY MEMBERS, AND THESE MEMBERS DO NOT ALL HAVE THE SAME FUNCTION, SO IN CHRIST WE WHO ARE MANY FORM ONE BODY, AND EACH MEMBER BELONGS TO ALL THE OTHERS. WE EACH HAVE DIFFERENT GIFTS ACCORDING TO THE GRACE GIVEN US”(Romans 12:4-6).
‘In an organization “maintenance” becomes the focus. But in an organism “ministry” is the focus.’ At Touchstone Mission Baptist Church we have a simple structure so we can maximize ministry and minimize maintenance.
“GOD GAVE. . . SOME TO BE PASTORS AND TEACHERS TO PREPARE GOD’S PEOPLE FOR WORKS OF MINISTRY, SO THAT THE BODY OF CHRIST MAY BE BUILT UP. . .”(Ephesians 4:11-12). Thereby “Setting the standard for Christ-Centred Ministry” as a local church under the feet and supervision of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We are a team in Christ Jesus, experiencing ministry together.

NOW, WHAT IS YOUR PART IN ALL OF THIS? MAKE A COMMITMENT TO JESUS FIRST, AND THEN, TO THE CHURCH - JOIN US IN THIS GREAT ADVENTURE OF SEEKING AND REACHING OUT TO THOSE WITHOUT JESUS CHRIST.
That is exactly how Jesus found you too! Jesus is looking for people who are willing to turn from their sin and give their lives to Him. Jesus will take your life and give you new passion and focus. We want to see you at Touchstone Church serve Jesus Christ with the whole of your heart. You will experience things you never thought possible with Jesus. Your life will be invested in a love relationship with the Lord God. What else could be greater than this in your life – to give it all to Jesus Christ?

VISION OF TOUCHSTONE CHURCH YAOUNDE
(1) It is our vision “to grow a church without walls, touching every segment of our society, bringing the living Jesus to a dying world”. Reaching the unreached and the reached for Christ in our community. Which implies investing sacrificially in any godly way to win a soul into the Kingdom of God. (2) It is our vision “to grow a church of compassion that will reach the untouched, tell the untold, love the unloved, bring hope to the hopeless, life to the lifeless, and become a friend to the friendless”. A church every member is involved in serving with their gifts and talents, ministering to physical, emotional and spiritual needs. (3) It is our vision “to grow a church so infused with God’s life, love and passion that we are continually finding new ways of giving it away”. (4) It is our vision “to grow a praying church, standing on the Word of God, walking by faith, depending on the Holy Spirit, committed to each other, and our destiny in God”. We will go and make disciples of all peoples, baptizing and teaching them to observe the ways of God. We take immediate responsibility for Yaoundé and all the Regions of Cameroon. (5) It is our vision “to grow the family of God where each home is together in God’s presence, and everyone belongs”. A place where everybody is somebody in Christ and Christ the only standard, creating disciples and building family unity. (6) It is our vision “to build a place where children love to come and grow, teenagers and youths find meaning and encouragement, families are strengthened, dreams are fueled to come true, people are fed, and it is never boring! (7) It is our vision “that our worship in the church will be spirit-filled leading us to experience the Living Lord”.
