Young people all over the world have a lot going on in their lives. The teen years (13-19) can be very difficult for us. Sadly enough, a majority of teens constantly get in trouble with their parents, family and friends. The very people who are supposed to be our best friends and source of support during these critical stages of our life become our enemies. We tell them little or nothing about how we feel or what we want. In this very tense environment it is impossible for youths to get the advice and necessary skills and training they need to grow into mature, responsible and productive adults.
Whenever we need answers to some important questions, we usually approach people who don’t question our motives: we turn to younger inexperienced but good intentioned persons like ourselves who lack skills and advice we need. Their poor advice often leads to bad choices which affect us negatively in the future.
Through ECAT we hope to resolve this issue by creating an enabling environment where teenagers meet with parents and professionals from different backgrounds, learn from them and acquire skills which shall enable them regain their confidence as individuals, make informed decisions , and most of all bring them closer to their family and friends once again.
