This projects aims at the organisation of a Cultural Trade Fair that offers the socio-cultural life of the entire North West Region of Cameroon, and especially that of the Bamenda City Council area, for both national and international consumption, in the bid to making a contextual contribution to Cameroon’s option for becoming an emerging economy.
Specific objectives
To promote the hybrid cultures of the entire North West Region of Cameroon.
To celebrate the cultural specificities of the seven villages that make up the Bamenda City Council area of the North West Region of Cameroon.
To expose the way of life of the entire North West Region of Cameroon to the world.
To sell the socio-cultural image of the people of Bamenda and of the seven Divisions that make up the North West Region of Cameroon.
To celebrate the birth of a New Cultural Industry for the North West Region of Cameroon.
Nature of Cultural Trade Fair
The exhibition shall be open to the general public and divided into seven major categories:
- Category I: Plastic Arts (sculpture, art and craft).
- Category II: Culinary Arts (traditional staples of the entire North
West Region of Cameroon).
- Category III: Customs and Traditions (music in song and dance –
displays and competitions).
- Category IV: Exhibitions (pictures, books, projections, raffle
draws…).
- Category V: Produce Exhibition (agro-pastoral).
- Category VI: Conferences and Debates.
- Category VII: Cultural and Traditional Semi-races and
Manifestations.
Cultural Trade Fair Village
A Cultural Trade Fair Village shall, for the purpose of this project, be duly erected at the Bamenda Municipal Stadium, following the different display categories as well as proposed platforms from partners and exhibitors.
N.B:
A semi marathon, a horse race and a cultural caravan shall be organized for the launching of the trade fair, accompanied by various publicity vans and fanfares. There shall also be a merry go-round (manège) for children and adults.
Expected Results
Economic
This project shall be quite profitable to the Bamenda City Council: from the stands, from exhibitors and from advertisers and sponsors.
Immediate expected results
The culture and products of the entire North West Region of Cameroon shall be promoted and sold to the national and international communities, and a new cultural industry shall be set up to boost the economy of Bamenda and the entire North West Region.
