Mexico was where I learned to travel. The first places we went were Mexico, Africa, and Hawaii. And of course the Southwest of the States and the Northeast: Philadelphia, New York, New England.

San Cristóbal is pretty off the beaten track but once in the States I did meet someone who was from there. Segue to fantastic occurrences. When my father took me to look at colleges we stayed at the Essex House in New York. There was an Elton John free concert in the park. I got up to the front and had a kid on my shoulders. The next round like day on the cover of the Times was a picture of this same kid on someone else's shoulders taken just after I had left. On a flight from Paris to Johannesburg we had to fly around Angola because there was a civil. It was such a long sight it was a DC-10 my seat back was broken it wouldn't go down. We stopped in one of the Z counties. Zaire Zimbabwe Zambia I'm not sure I was ten. My mother got locked in the bathroom and when she got out ran into Jackie O who asked her where she bought her shoes. My mother had shoes. My father had built sheds all the way around the perimeter of the house to house them. Once, when I was all grown up, I met my mother at Narita. We went to Kyoto. Underneath is a subway station the size of an airport. We were on our way to Beppu to the baths. From the opposite side of this concourse this woman came running screaming "Milmon, I would recognize you by your shoes anywhere." It was another artist from Aspen. This is all true it's not apocryphal. There was a piece in the Denver Post "The Imelda Marcos of Denver".

Variedad de cocina, a buen precio y buen nivel. No es gourmet, más bien cocina casera, variedad de platos locales y peruanos. Muy buenos.

A nice permanent market and very lively. If you have the time, visit the AsoAgro just inside the city limits on Panamerican highway instead.

Good place for hungry backpackers with a lot of restaurants in a small food court, with variety starting from peruvian cuisine thru bolivian, french, italian and local food, even some international dishes between.
Prices are not as cheap if you order anything out of the daily menu.
