This is a very new, very modern facility. Development of the vineyards states in the 1990s. The modern winery facility was completed around 2005. The 25,000 hectare unit includes a small hotel, a large restaurant, and a small gift shop. The landscaping in the hotel and restaurant area is really well done. There are several well known wineries in the area, the Casablanca wine region. The Casablanca region is only 12-15 km east of the Port City of San Antonio.
The Casablanca valley is best known for it's high quality white wines, principally Sauvignon Blanc. The Matetic facility does produce a nice Pinot noir as well.

This place is a great combination of a cold coastal vineyard, a cozy & fancy hotel, and a magnificent restaurant. Very close to the ocean, this microclimate is perfect for relaxing a whole weekend, walking within the nature and enjoying fantastic wines paired with different kind of traditional food. You won't regret to be a visitor of this extraordinary spot on the way to Pacific Ocean.

Amazing vineyard. Surprising and very welcomed approach to staying true to a sustainable way of making wine. Very worth it. The restaurant was very good too!

We did the tour with bicycles, which doesn't bring much as you don't see much. The wine at the tasting was not good at all, and they only let you taste one white and one red. We had lunch there, luckily the wine was a bit better there. The gift shop is nice though.
