To begin, hotel has a friendly, helpful staff, good bar and restaurants. Also, it has a faded charm that's in a funky neighborhood full of good food. For seniors, it's dysfunctional due to the very steep stairs, almost ladderlike, lack of hot water, and steep sided bathtub/shower. Some things are in disrepair.

One would need to weigh antique charm vs some lack of comfort.

Historic hotel with a somewhat ruined charm in keeping with Valpo and a cool terrace perfect for a drink that anyone can visit with a view up and down Cierro Alegre and of the picturesque and quaint pedestrian streets below. Good time to visit would be at sunset.

Old world charm. Converted from a 19th century home into a hotel. The Gervasoni, like most buildings in Valparaiso is set over 5 or 6 levels descending down the hill. The rooms are old fashioned but adequate. Make sure you get a room at the front overlooking the bay. There is a nice terrace bar which doubles as the breakfast room. Staff were very helpful. Some good restaurants close by.

Nice, historic hotel. Excellent location. Our group had some issues with hot water, probably due to the fact that the building is quite old

Old but expected! If you don't like stairs or historical places, don't come here. The views are beautiful.

Charming hotel in a great location (many people come to visit the viewpoint right outside the hotel). The breakfast is nice. Rooms vary in size and views.
