Sooo good food, with great service in a nice location for a reasonable price. Nothing to add, just go and enjoy yourself!

I am an American visiting Valparaiso for a physics conference at the University. I am staying down on Papudo street but had heard about the restaurants further up on the hill so came up to try one out. I spent 45 minutes wandering the neighborhood trying to find the right place but was not impressed until I found this place. I find other reviews complaining about the price ironic as most of the restaurants up here were pricier with menus that didn't impress me. I decided on the Vinilo based on both the ambience and the menu and it was the right choice. The Pisco Sour I ordered took a while to arrive but it was sublime. I had a beef dish with a kind of cheesy polenta with just the right amount of heat. The beef melted in my mouth. The red wine (Cabernet) that I had with the beef was a perfect match. After the entree I ordered a desert -- don't remember the name, but it was some kind of tart. Apparently it was the last piece and so was extra large. It was simply delicious. I could have had a cheaper and quicker meal down in the city, but why? I won't say that this is best restaurant up on the hill because I haven't tried all the others and I won't say that m,y meal was "perfect", but I had a meal that I will remember and if I come back to Valparaiso -- hopefully with my wife -- I will bring her back here first. Kudo's to the owners and chef for a cafe that stands out from the others.

Came by Cafe Vinilo for a quick snack. We ordered the ceviche. It was delcious. It was a little to citrusy and the serving of bread that accompanied the dish was too small. Overall, experience was good and we enjoyed the service. The cafe has an outdoor patio in the rear.

Don't believe the cook, Gonzalo is an unreliable person (Chanta in Chile). He says the fish is Bio but he buys it from the supermarket. The prices are way to high, even for tourists. Is not anymore what it used to be.

Went there twice while visiting. Both times the food was of exceptional quality. It's definitely one of the nicer and pricier places in Valparaiso, but depending on where you're from, it might not be that much (about $90 USD for two three course meals and bottle of wine). The fish was outstanding and the staff couldn't be nicer. Also love the jazz vinyls they play all night. I'd definitely recommend going at least once.

Nice place to eat and relax. Food is great. Service was even better. Has out side patio for smokers . It is out of the breeze but no view. Great for cool windy days.

Really nice restaurant with a calm vibe in a beautiful setting. The menu is simple and the dishes are creative and tasty. The music selection (vinyl obviously) is relay good and the staff is very welcoming.

I have been visiting Café Vinilo since its opening (circa 2001/2) and it is one of my favourite places in Valparaíso. Over time, they constantly redefine the Chilean cuisine and now they have some local artists exhibit and nicely design clothing. Highly recommend for a coffee, lunch and dinner.

We came in really late on a Sunday night and they still served us! Overall, the place is really cute and good music with a live record player. Our waiter was a bit unfriendly and had a sour attitude. The wine was great and the food was delicious. The berry cheesecake was way better than I was anticipating!

Food did not impress. The breaded fried fish cubes were not crunchy but soggy. The goat cheese toasts were good. The service was friendly but slow and too laid back. The piscos were brought with the meal instead ahead of it. Also the bill was incorrect on first attempt. There is live music by musicians who walk in and the will ask for a tip afterwards.

Adorable coffee shop in Valpo with tables and lovely waiters. It's relatively inexpensive compared to other coffees in more touristy areas

Lovely place with real vinyls playing, very atmospheric. We were not impressed with the food. Although presentation was nice and it tasted good, the service was slow (drinks took more than 15 minutes to arrive). The filete was well done when we asked for al punto. I found a piece of plastic in my mash that came with the tuna.

I understand staff may have had a few busy days us coming on 26 Dec. The staff were also nice to us.

And when I mentioned the plastic they offered a free drink - nice detail.

    But

This place needs to up its game - the prices are high and the other places around it serve quality food
