Beautiful clock tower. It strikes at the 56th minute of every hour.

What a classic and beautiful monument such a giant clock in the center of a town like Bern. Time is at the core of our mindset, (even when we're just traveling).

A magnificent clock tower in the area of Zytglogge. The hour pointer is in Sun and Moon while minute pointer in Arrow. Must go spot in Bern.

Rating is for the major street that runs through downtown. The city has some impressive architecture, sculptures and lots to see through the street. The clock sits at the center of downtown and in the middle of the street.

(July 2016) My friend and I did a tour guided by a senior lady who speaks German, Swiss German and a perfect English. This place is a must see for history nuts who are interested medieval horology. You also get to learn a bit about Bern's history. The view from the top is a bonus even if the windows are tiny. Unfortunately the tower is not wheelchair accessible; lots of narrow stairs to climb.

Very impressive medieval clocktower! I like the complex artwork indicating time and astronomical status. And it's incredible that the original mechanical clockwork is still in place and works more or less reliable. When there are malfunctions, the ringing and squeaking will be out of sync and some times even in an endless loop. The ringing is slightly too loud for my taste and it could also just stop during the night.
