Unbelievable view. We stayed in 216, 219 probably has a better view. Great location, but not right in the center of town. Located at the end of the street with all the high end shops. Great free breakfast each morning.

The Hotel International au Lac presents old-world elegance, right near the shore of lovely Lake Lugano. There are many shops, restaurants and sights within easy walking distance, and public transportation is readily available.
The building is elegant, with a large breakfast room and bar on the first floor. The rooms are a good size, with nice amenities in the bath and comfortable beds, and air conditioning.
There is also a pool and garden area available for use. The area provided a nice place to have a picnic otherwise. Just remember not to take anything glass anywhere close to the pool.

€250 a night and the receptionists(most of them) are very unfriendly The view on the lake is nice but the noise of traffic is not..

Hotel International au Lac is simply beautiful.
With a refined yet relaxed atmosphere, elegant 'Chic' suite room, intimate terraced gardens and swimming pool my husband and I felt pampered in old world charm. An excellent variety of delicious food included with our room made every breakfast a delight.
The French doored balcony of our lake view room was delightful for people watching​, as folks from locals to tourists, young and old passed by on the wide promenade of Via Nassa below. The hotel is located in Lugano's old town and we enjoyed walking along the interesting pedestrian only paths to dinner every evening.
I would love to one day return to enjoy Hotel International au Lac's ideal location with lake and mountain views in the charmng lakeside town town of Lugano, Switzerland.response / report this review -

Although more than a century old, the interior of the hotel is very tastefully refurbished. They maintained the old charm with the refurbished antique furniture, artworks and even curated the old artifacts such as phones, records, audio set, cutlery, etc in a mini museum on the second level. Furniture in the hotel room were new and clean. Most helpful of them to have included a safe, kettle, conveniently located wall plugs and a double door as we were at the same level as the bar and breakfast restaurant. They even have a swimming pool!
