It's the best fintess center for those who like to try new things. If you're interested in cross-fit training, athletic performance it's a place just for you. The center has all the traditional machines for bodybuilding, as well as great variety of free weights: T-bars, kettlebells, strongman logs, strongman sledges, trap-barbells, fitness bags, sand bags and sand balls. There are three squat racks in center plus several more in the zone of private training.

You will find there stuff that you've never heard of, like tsunami barbells and bendable bars. If you're fan of the training with you own weight, there are rubbers, TRXs, Swiss balls and Bosu balls, hard and soft platforms for jumping, chinup bars and a great lot of smaller fitness equipment.

The private training zone has things you've probably never see in any other gym. I've never trained inside it, but the hammers, adjustable weights and complex machines for training with your weight look pretty impressive.

Very healthy addition is the stretching zone. Everybody stretch in this gym, there's a lot of foam roller, little massaging balls and such thing. Take care of your muscles and fascias, boys.

When I'm tired, I just go and use the gym's sauna: 90 degrees Finnish sauna for 2-4 people and usually no one inside - just a-w-e-s-o-m-e. There's also a Hammam but I'm no expert in this Turkish stuff.

Everything is clean, the trainers are helpful and positive, the atmosphere is great. I'd seriously say that it's the best gym I've ever had.

    Hi there,

I would like to recommend this gym for several reasons.

The first one is because the material, ropes, elastic, TRX, Bosu and everything else are just very good. I have always tried to find a gym in Lausanne where I could do my cross training and also some cardio in a good atmosphere. And I have to say that I am very grateful to have this gym near my work place.

I would also like to say that the people over there, coaches and the staff are excellent. As soon as you want to reach a higher level, they build you up a program which include a tough warm up, a workout and some cardio.

Concerning the group classes, I have only been to twice and it was great but I cannot say more about it.

Anyway, after I have been to those several gyms around "Sous Gare", I finally have found the one I love.

    Good luck

    Eric

This facility looks very good in pictures, but be warned!

As a person interested in the functional aspect as well as the strength component of training I thought this facility would provide both good opportunities for training as well as good instructors. Alas, most instructors are seemingly not well educated when it comes to the latest research in physiology and sportsmedicine.

They teach their own program with a plethora of exercises that make for slow progress, are unnecessary and even potentially damaging to beginners - since they are not taught properly but instead rushed through all the exercises. To name a few examples: lunge swings using the Vipr, sumo squat with the barbell held in hand similar to T bar rows (but instead facing the barbell). Regular squats with bar in arm creases instead of on the backjust to name a few.

This is done instead of well established programs based on linear progression. E.g. Starting Strength, Greyskull Linear progression and Strong Lifts 5x5.

The nice area of the gym is off limits to regular gym goers - only for private classes. Despite these not being in session…

    There are no micro-plates (0.5kg/1lb).

There are only a few regular 20 kg barbells in the public gym area - most are 15 kg.

Mixed brands of bars and plates results in plates being super wobbly on the bar.

Chalk is not allowed, safety first right?

Weightlifting platforms can't even be used!

There are two weight lifting platforms, but they can't be used since the neighbors will complain if weights are put down too hard. I've been warned twice - none of the times was this with weight that had been above my head but rather dropped from a couple of centimeters off the floor. Even with bumper plates, this was still too loud according to the staff.

As a student on a budget, but extremely interested in fitness and healthy living - a good gym was high on my list when moving to Lausanne. These guys charge 390CHF for 3 months - when the limitations of the facility and the unhelpfulness of the staff was revealed I asked for my money back (minus the month I had spent training) but was denied.

The only really good thing with this gym is ironically its location - and the after workout shakes they make, they're amazing so they get a star for that at least.

    **UPDATE**
After posting this review, I was allowed to quit the gym - I was given money back appropriate to the amount of time I'd actually used the gym. However, when going to the gym to end my membership the staff was both rude and unaccommodating - as in my membership was canceled effective immediately (a few days prior) and I wasn't even allowed to pay for a one-time training session. There seems to be some discrepancy between how the staff operates and how the management operates. I'm basing this on the fact that the management that reached out to me via email were polite and even recommended other facilities - whilst my experience with the on-location staff was less so.
