Beautiful hotel, good restaurant, wonderful views on Lake Kivu
I have been here only for dinner, lunch and used the gym. I always enjoyed it here. The area is well maintained with a beautiful garden. The rooms are expensive, but let's face there isn't that many great alternatives in Bukavu. Other hotels aren't cheap either and do not even come close to Orchid.

Some say the best Hotel / Restaurant in Africa, certainly BEST in Bukavu, D R Congo ! For Rooms, Gardens, Flowers, Orchids, Canoe /Boat /Barge / Ship, Helicopter Rides, on Lake Kivu at 1 Kilometer Altitude. It was the Favorite of Bill Gates for a week long Safari to visit the Kahuzi National Gorilla Park with it's Mountain Elephants, just before he got married; when I filmed a Video of Bill's plane landing on the water of the Lake and the Ruzizi River between Rwanda and D R Congo ! Those were the Days ! And it Continues with Excellent Survival Jungle "Tourisme !" Come and see the Wild -- 2 meters in front of you -- in the Wild West of Africa !!!!

Beautiful hotel with professional service. Honestly, this place had the best retaurant-hotel service i've experienced anywhere (not just sub-saharan Africa). Rooms were small-ish, but very nice - and well decorated. I liked the rooms below the restaurant, with the view of the lake. Can get noisy, but view and proximity to restaurant offset that (for me). The restaurant terrace is THE best thing about this place - but a close second are the restaurant staff, and the interior garden (not sure if bouganvillia at front gate - but whatever flower/bush that is, it's gorgeous!). Super relaxing to come home here after a long days work. One of the best hotels I've stayed at in the region. Highly recommended. If you eat at the restaurant, order the home-made potato chips (Local potatoes - Made in Kabare!) I also recommend the pork chops.

Nice place in a city with few alternatives. I felt I paid a lot more than what I got but it's a sign of lack of competition as opposed to anything else. The restaurant area is done very nicely with a beautiful veranda. Great views over the lake, very relaxing and quiet.
