Awesome mountain biking, cross country ski & hiking recreation area. Kudos to Alberta Parks for the park lot & access road upgrades!
Stop reading reviews and get out there. Endless natural beauty to see and discover. Just when you have done and seen it all, come back and find something new.
The new parking lot is HUGE. The horses are tucked away in a small corner to the SE, which is excellent. Easy access to all the trails, multiple outhouses, and the road should be paved before winter.
Super big now after construction. Can hold 200 vehicles easy. Just lacking vendors like ice cream trucks. Bylaws may be the problem.
Can't go wrong mountain biking, or running on the trails here. Beautifully well designed trails that will keep you coming back. The only downfall is that sometimes horse back riding really damages the trails when they go on non dry days.
Great trails but at times there are too many people. It's a victim of its own success.
Dog friendly. We went hiking and met a lot of cyclists on the re. All were very friendly and courteous to people and animals on foot.
West Bragg is a mountain biking paradise, no question about it. The local trail association is mighty and awesome at both maintaining and communicating the state of the trails, which were designed by mountain bikers for mountain bikers. This year (2017) is seeing a major parking upgrade which will substantially reduce traffic pressure on the area. Connect to many other trail systems in the region (e.g., the Moose Mountain stuff), or stick to the West Bragg loops. It's all good. Merlin View, for what it's worth, is a flowy dream to descend on. Just make sure you ride that loop counter-clockwise. :)
Hiking cycling snowshoeing and cross country skiing within 30 minute drive of Calgary! Parking lot is being expanded (finally!) And always plenty of people around to help out with gear or recommend a trail or 2.
One of my favourite biking spots near calgary! A lot of trails to use and if you start early, you can avoid the rush of people sharing the mountains with you.
From a biking point of view, the area family friendly with some trails for more experienced riders. Some trails can get bumpy so I would suggest bringing a spare tire kit and know how to use it as the bumps may cause a tire to pop!
Cross country skiing here is amazing. Great all year around.
Great place for hiking and biking. It's close proximity to Calgary makes it ideal for an after work ride or a weekend day trip.
A great cross-country skiing area with groomed classic and skate trails. It is also popular for snowshoeing and fat tire biking. They have recently added a warming trailer too. Great in the summer too!
Best place for mtb around Calgary. Parking lot is full most nice days.
Amazing family destination! Parking is an issue on nice days but does not seem to mean crowds everywhere else. So many trails!!!
