Description

The Westminster Hotel has been a part of Dawson City since the early 1900's. The building itself is a veritable patchwork quilt of Yukon history, with different sections at one time serving as offices for the Klondike Thawing Machine Co., a grocer's, a boarding house, a diner and ice cream shop, and, most recently and perhaps most notoriously, as a bar and hotel.

The Westminster Hotel was originally registered to a Mr. Vinnicombe, but the collective local memory reaches back only as far as John "Curly" Salois, who later sold the business to his nephew Fabien, and Fabien's wife Eileen. Fabien and Eileen ran the Westminster hotel, beer parlour and cocktail lounge until the early 1990's, when the infamous Duncan Spriggs purchased the business.

For the last 20 years, The Westminster, known to the locals as "The Pit", has played host to countless birthdays, Christmas dinners, and wakes. We're your first stop when you get back to town, and your last before you get outta Dodge. You can count on us to bring you the best in live music, be it local talent or bands from across the country.

Whether it's a cheap room, a cheap beer, or stellar entertainment (and never a cover charge), the Westminsta's got it for you!
