Stayed here for one night. Very nice well kept older hotel on main street of Port Hope right next to the river. Very convenient to everything in town. Room was spaciousl, quiet and well kept except for one minor issue they are addressing. Breakfast was excellent. Would recommend this hotel if staying in Port Hope.
Over priced food, that wasn't prepared very well, and the portions were small, and the food was cold. Plus the chef isn't very good!
Good food and service. Reasonable prices. Great patio.
Horrid service from the moment I walked in. Felt like I interrupted the lady over her meal at 330p who had to check me in.
Beautiful terrace room on the river, that's all I have to commend about this property. If they have room service I would have dined on my terrace. Instead stuck at the back of the patio away from the river while the three tables along the river front are now available. If the hostess had any brains, she would have suggested for me and my neighbours (well kids on a date) to wait two minutes for the riverfront tables to clear. Should have gone back to the Social for dinner. Oh and at 8p, they ran out of bread for my neighbours, the girl looks sad. Wish I knew more french.
Perhaps Canadian travellers have lower expectations. And surely hospitality needs to raise a notch.
Sorry Port Hope. This is as good as it gets. Been here twice. First and Last.
Lovely little inn and restaurant. Good food and great service.
Food is very good
Dirty, over priced & not 'luxury 'accommodation as expected.
Unfortunately we were disappointed with our recent trip to The Waddell Hotel in Port Hope. I highlighted several problems to the manager of the hotel and I've received no follow up correspondence as promised during our discussion.
The rooms were dirty, had two broken windows, lots of street noise, bed-frames were very wobbly and required tightening, dry cleaners wire hangers used in the closet area, no bath towels provided, extra pillows never arrived, several maintenance issues in the room, filthy bath tub that required cleaning before use, oversized fridge in the room-very noisy and the list goes on.
Suffice to say, we won't return.
Restaurant highly recommended but accommodation quality deceptive from the marketing and price point of the hotel.
Went to the Waddell resturant for lunch. Food and service were very good, with a nice view of the river in Port Hope. Would love to go back for dinner and drinks.
Great hotel aesthetically, fantastic if you want to stay in a building with very historical architecture. However, this means that some other modern expectations like double paned glass and insulation are missing, meaning at night it traffic can be quite loud. Overall, perfect for people looking to get the full Port Hope experience.
Really lovely hotel. The king room is huge with a nice balcony overlooking the river. Very friendly and helpful staff.
