I had a laugh reading about the 'not-kid-friendly' reviews. Clearly the city folk who stopped by had incredibly high standards and had not considered the possibility that a small town cafe would not have a desire to be exactly like every other chain restaurant found around every corner in the city. And the folks confirmed they read the 'not-kid-friendly' comments....so why the hell did they stop by?!! And the place is small so sound carries - screechy kids cartoons would be heard no matter how quiet the volume.

Anyhoo, travelling to Tobermory we searched for a place to grab a bite and The Bicycle Cafe grabbed our attention.
If you read the front of the menu it says clearly to sit back, relax and enjoy the visit, which my family did. Every restaurant/cafe owner has a right to do things their way which was abundantly clear the owners of the Bicycle Cafe do; It was small and eclectic and we thought it was just fine.
We have 2 kids, one of whom is a picky eater, but we told him he would have to try something if he wanted to eat so he settled for Eggs and Bacon.
The food was delicious! The kids enjoyed their meal and it was a lovely break from the monotonous drive to Tobermory. We enjoyed it, we liked the place and the kids came away with food in their tummy's; job well done Bicycle Cafe!

My husband and I along with our 2 year old son were on our way home from the cottage and we stopped at the cafe. We woke up our son who was sleeping. We asked for the WiFi password and put on YouTube kid songs on for him because he was a little cranky, honestly it was low.
The manager who was 10 feet away from us told us to turn it down. She did not come and ask us to please turn it down but from behind the counter. It was not loud and to turn it down any further would mean there was no volume at all. We we're so embarrassed and uncomfortable the whole time. How could an owner be so rude. At the very least she could have came up to us and told us. Once again it was not loud at all, she could not hear it only see it.
Before writing this review I had looked to see if anyone had a similar experience and sure enough... Yes! Not kid friendly. But she had her children hanging around which is not professional at all.
We will never ever go back and not only was the manager rude the food is not worth the money you spend. It's good food definitely not great food.
One more thing we were going to order the apple pie and asked for it to be warmed up the waitress said they had no means of warming it up???? and if they weren't busy they would put it under the salamander(they weren't that busy) what cafe doesn't warm up apple pie and serve it cold??.
Did i mentioned i will never go here again.

Wonderful personal service. Well prepared, interesting food. An oasis in an otherwise stark landscape.

Quite and comfy cafe. Decent selection of classic board games and delicious hot drinks.

We came as a group of 6 and they were kind enough to give us a bowl of popcorn on the house while we decided on what to order.

They also have some nice looking desserts, but I didn't get to try them myself.

Adorable little cafe and restaurant. Really unique dishes available for a small town spot. Quality food and great personal service. Looks like they host some good events too.
