With the artists, dive deep into the subject of : [New Realisms: the Media Age aesthetic]
Artists have always been the voice of the collective unconscious and in this age of permanent yet unreliable communication, their work is becoming more important but also more intricate than ever. Although they use media which have traditionally not been considered realistic, Adriana Smith, Andrew Thomas Huang, Kara Gut and Matthew Keff all practice their own form of hyperrealism, taking inspiration from the aesthetics of late 20th century and 21st century cinema, video games or Internet culture in their often surrealistic tones and sublimating the visual cues that have become part of our daily lives and culture. In that sense, they are archiving and commenting on our new reality: one in which everything is increasingly virtual, yet is as real as anything our forebearers lived. - The conversation will take place during the vernissage of the Festival Chromatic 2018 and will be broadcasted on the 30th, starting at 1pm. Take this event's wall as an opportunity to share your own thoughts and questions to the artists, Sweetspot's team will relay the most pertinents.

Avec les artistes, plongez en profondeur dans le sujet des : [Nouveaux réalismes: l'esthétique de l'ère des médias]
Les artistes ont toujours été la voix de l'inconscient collectif et en cette ère de communication permanente et peu fiable, leur travail devient plus important mais aussi plus complexe que jamais. Bien qu'ils utilisent des médias traditionnellement considérés comme réalistes, Adriana Smith, Andrew Thomas Huang et Kara Gut pratiquent leur propre définition de l'hyperréalisme, s'inspirant de l'esthétique du cinéma, des jeux vidéo ou de l'Internet de la fin du XXe siècle et du XXIe siècle dans leurs tons souvent surréalistes et sublimant les repères visuels qui font partie de notre vie quotidienne et de notre culture. En ce sens, ils archivent et commentent notre nouvelle réalité: une réalité où tout est de plus en plus virtuel, mais qui est aussi bien plus réel que ce que vivaient nos prédécesseurs.
