About

St. Bernadette’s Family Resource Centre, a member of Catholic Charities, is a non-profit charity, non-denominational, community-based organization that has been integrating children, youth, and adults with intellectual and/or physical challenges, such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Blindness, etc., with their “able” peers since 1992.

The agency offers accessible parent relief programs such as our St. Bernadette’s Daycare, Before/After School Club, March Break and Summer Camp, Parent/Child We Need a Break, Little Angel's Corner for babies with special needs, and St. Jude’s Academy of the Arts, our day program for youth and adults with special needs. Additionally, the programs we offer assist single parents, victims of wife abuse, new immigrants, and those who experience adverse circumstances such as low income, or have a developmental and/or physical challenge themselves. These services take place in an inclusive environment. Parent relief programs and support groups enable caregivers.

St. Jude's Academy of the Arts

At St. Jude’s Academy of the Arts, we are honored to serve families through our special needs day program for ages 18 and up, and are continuing to find ways to assist our differently abled clients to grow and receive the best care possible. We provide all clients with an inclusive opportunity to interact and collaborate with able youth in a variety of artistic, academic and social activities. This provides each client with a smooth transition from the familiarity of the high school program to the world of the adult; thus illustrating our Motto which is “We Can Live as One”

We pride ourselves in teaching our clients how to adapt in everyday activities, in and out of our program. We offer our clients Literacy, Arts and Crafts, Music, Drama, job skills and integration retreats.

We foster the growth and development of body, mind and soul of all who attend. Our staff assists in the development of life skills and independence by leading classes in cooking, money management, computer skills, and facilitating group discussions.
