  Worked with Michael over several months to finalize a design for a new deck. Throughout the process Michael was very accommodating and helpful through many design changes. The work was done in February and although the weather was terrible and it was like working in a swamp, Michael always showed up on time and completed the work on time. He was also very accommodating for interruptions for some plumbing work that had to be done between the removal of the old deck and the installation of the new deck.
  
  The work was done on time and on budget, which is rare these days, but most importantly the end product is outstanding. Quality workmanship that will likely outlast the house.
  
  I would recommend Michael for such projects without hesitation.

  Mike is a true master of carpentry who marries his "old-school" experience perfectly with his up-to-date knowledge of the industry. His mastery extends far beyond just decking, which means he is able to overcome unexpected hurdles should any arise. A true perfectionist who focuses on the smallest details while never losing sight of the bigger picture. He is always punctual and believes in doing things right the first time around. Mike will not compromise his integrity to cut corners and truly cares about the work he performs for his clients. You can feel at ease knowing your project is in good hands thanks to his ability to communicate things effectively and concisely. You get what you pay for. Highly recommend.

  It gives me great pleasure to write this review for Michael and South Coast Sundecks. We just had a composite deck installed and we love it! In the briefest terms, Michael was very responsive, explained what he could do, gave a fair estimate, showed up on time, and did an excellent job.
  
  Taking these in turn, we were first struck by how responsive Michael was. Where other companies took several days to respond, Michael got back to us very soon after we reached out. We had a very helpful initial conversation about our needs and what he could do for us. I will note, to his credit, that he truly was interested in meeting our needs, and even discussed not installing a deck and simply refurbishing our old deck. There is integrity in that. He was very honest and full of information about composite decks and other options.
  
  The most important thing about Michael is that he showed up, on time, when he said he would. Our experience with contractors and builders (and I am sure many reading this can relate) is not great. We just accepted that builders not showing up on time, or simply not showing up, was the norm and not the exception. We were pleasantly surprised when Michael showed up exactly when he said he would, and did exactly what he said would.
  
  He arrived soon after we reached out and did a detailed assessment and provided us a quote with options. He did not give us the least expensive quote, but it was fair, and it was far from the most expensive quote. We discussed different options and discussed how to accommodate any surprises that he might encounter while doing work on the deck.
  
  He arrived soon after we signed the contract with a team of equally capable and respectful employees. Again, they showed up each day and worked hard and competently to complete our deck. As they were working with an existing structure, it was not without complications and wrinkles. Michael rolled with all of that and fixed what needed fixing. He is uncompromising in his integrity, attention to detail, and excellence. He could have cut corners… we would not have known… but he did not. Moreover, he gave generously of his time, and it did not result in any deviation in cost from the original contract. It was clear to us that he would not install a deck that he was not proud of.
  
  We are so happy with the result! Now 2 years into the pandemic and limited social interaction, we cannot wait to show off our deck and have our friends and family over.
  
  Michael is competent, professional, personable, and I recommend him for your project without reservation.

  Hi Mike,
  Thank you for replacing our front deck. You made excellent suggestions. Because it was part of a renovation you were patient and accommodated change. The work was done on time and within budget. You and your co worker were friendly and cleaned up every day. The job looks great and we have received many compliments!
