Tasty food and fast service but some plating issues. My son’s panini was placed next to a heavily dressed salad so the bottom of his lovely crusty sandwich was soggy. My salad was delicious but plated in a tiny bowl that made it difficult to eat without losing some of it as it fell out of the bowl. Without those issues it would have been perfect.
We love to go and relax at the Silver Bean, and watch Mother Duck lead her large family across the water. It is especially pleasant even on a hot summer day. Enjoy!
Great views overlooking the river. Wonderful coffees and drinks, and there's even gluten-free snacks (for those who care, as I do). Can't think of a better outdoor/indoor cafe setting for the season that Silver Bean is open.
Great location. Friendly staff. Amazing desserts.
Enjoy a warm coffee on a cool fall day or a delicious ice cream on a hot summer one. All while sitting by the water enjoying the beautiful view.
Amazing place. Very scenic. Mind blowing ice cream options and it's Kawartha Dairy ice cream. Good job. Silver Bean keep it up. I would advise maybe getting on the Pokemon go train and offer some kind of service to draw more people in. Maybe a charge station? Or some kind of Pokemon ice cream flavor? Just a thought :)
Very nice view. We enjoyed the ice cream
The sun shone warm and bright ... sparkling in the fast-flowing Otonabee River. This set the scene for a lovely afternoon last Wednesday when 60+ international students from Fleming College visited the one and only Silver Bean Cafe. There was plenty of space to sit outside and enjoy the company of our friends while taking in the sights and sounds of summer. A great big 'thank you' goes out to the friendly staff who, despite our overwhelming numbers, cheerfully ensured that everyone got their tasty beverages and treats. It was an experience my students will not soon forget.
The food was okay. Lining up to have my order taken was not. This is an overcrowded space. The view is nice, but not nice enough to want to return.
I found the staff to be somewhat confused about menu items and table locations. The view was lovely, but the tables are much too close together so that a private conversation is impossible. The food was competitive with other restaurants in town.
Closed during winter, the opening of this cottage in the city marks the official start of the outdoor season for locals and visitors alike. Coffees, teas, sandwiches, pastries and cold treats are all well prepared and the views and outdoor venue is a truly therapeutic experience. Slow your life down and take this in.
