D'Arcy was amazing! Very friendly and helpful as soon as we got there he ensured our families had everything we needed and throughout our stay! The cabins have everything you need and the setting is perfect for large family groups to gather around eat and enjoy family time. A BIG BONUS was that the beach was a few minute walk from the main strip and the beach which makes it hassel free from trying to find parking. We will deffinatley make this a yearly gathering and will keep going back to Shady Lane!

Darcy was a amazing host! My 2 girlfriends and I loved the cottages and amazing courtyard! These cottages are so adorable and super affordable!! Shady lane was minutes away from the beach so no worrying about the drive down and finding a parking spot! I’ve been to grandbend 3 times and I must say this was the best experience by far! Darcy was super helpful with any questions we had while we were there! I can’t wait to plan a big family trip at shady lane next summer!

This place was horrible, it had a whole in the bathroom, no screen on the window, moths and bugs flying in room, air conditioning wasn't working, stains on bed sheets, shower had leafs in it, we paid our 1 night out of our 2 night stay and left immediately after our arrival and went home. THE PICTURES ON THE WEBSITE, made it seem very clean and welcoming which wasn’t the case. DO NOT STAY THERE IF YOU HAVE PETS. they used a canadian flag as blinds. nothing in there was renovated as the website stated.

Just left from a great 3 night stay!! Darcy is the hostess with the mostess!! His quaint little compound of tiny cottages is literally tucked directly behind the main drag of Grand Bend and a 2 minute walk to the gorgeous beach.YOU CAN'T BEAT THE LOCATION!! We had an amazing time and can't wait to get back there!!

We were at Shady Lane cottages last weekend.
I will tell you that since D'Arcy has owned this business we have had nothing but a great experience. The cottages are very CLEAN. Yes, they smell clean too!
D'Arcy has consistently gone out of his way to make us feel at home.
He has provided not only great service, but laughter and even treats for the big kids.
He definitely deserves an award for going above and beyond making us feel comfortable, safe, and welcome.
If you need something, D'Arcy will do his best to either provide it or advise you where to get it.
The proximity to the main shopping strip and the beach is a stones throw.
We will be back as long as D'Arcy continues to be the awesome person he is.response / report this review -

OK. ..so, first of all, I had a fantastic experience at Shady lane. Second, I want to address Lara Sullivan's dumb comment.
I was at the cottage at the same time she showed up and complained about the cottage smelling "too clean" that's quite different from "awful smelly" in her review.
Too small? I didn't know you went to Grand Bend to spend the weekend inside of your cottage, didn't rain all weekend..
Disgusting? Didn't you just complain about it smelling too clean?
Didn't get your deposit back? Umm, you booked the spot and secured it with a deposit however didn't feel like staying. Why would you get it back
Third and final thought.
I stayed for 4 nights at Shady lane with my wife, 2 year old, 2 month old, wife's best friend and her 12 and 14 year old. ALL IN ONE COTTAGE.
We will definately be booking again next year. When we arrived, D'arcy came around with treats for everyone not only once but throughout the time we stayed. He constantly asked if we needed anything or if there was anything he could do. Sure the cottages are small and a little tired but who cares? We are there to party, have fun and go to the beach, not stay inside a cottage all day. If we could make the space work with 3 adults, 2 teens, and 2 kids, I'm pretty sure others could too with less people.

Darcy was a wonderful host, from the moment we arrived to the minute we left he made my group feel welcome. the cottage was clean and had everything we needed, I look forward to going back there in September for more fun in the sun.

The location of the cottages was fantastic, it was super close to the beach and everything else! D'Arcy was a great host and made sure we were very comfortable and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else!

I went with a group of my friends for a weekend away/bachelor party to Grand Bend and we stayed at the Shady Lane Cottages.
The cottages themselves were adequate. I mean we only NEEDED sleeping quarters really. We were relaxing at the picnic tables, or out and about more than anything.. so it served its purpose there.
My issues came when it was how stringent the rules were online, and how the reality did not match that. Sleeping quarters were indeed adequate, but loose panelling, ridiculously small bathrooms, barely useable water.. not ideal to me personally.
All in all I have very little to complain about even after mentioning the above.. the real hassle came after we left.
We left the 2 cottages we had cleaner than when we arrived, were even complimented on it by the owner, and then were told my buddy who booked everything would get his deposit back in a week.
Now this is where it really gets "shady" my friend was in constant contact with D'arcy. And I mean constant. He was fed such excuses as "I'm in PEI, and my online banking isnt working.." (seriously.. online banking isnt working? thats horsecrap.. if that truly were the case the bank would have it up within 24 hours.. and money should have been sent..NOPE..)
Then he was literally told the ol' "Cheques in the mail" and after that constant calling, the line eventually was disconnected for a time and more calls after that a woman answered, presumably D'arcys wife.. and said the money isnt her problem and would have to speak with him.. and he was convieniently not around.. and still hasnt been to this day
We went in August.. just to clarify this for people curious, and its been this long trying to get the 300$ (150 a cottage) deposit back.

Our family had a great weekend away here. Livable space for 4 adults, and 2 preteens.
Place was clean and it was a 2 minute walk to the main street and beach!
The cottage is cozy so if you are looking to staying inside or are accustomed to not roughing it, this place is not for you.
Bbqs were available for everyone to use, living space was clean and the other groups were great!
8 20 somethings were staying and made sure all other visitors were comfortable with them playing drinking games in the common area.
The owner also assisted us with extension cord a and made sure the grounds were cleaned each night to avoid some friendly raccoons from making a mess.
Overall we had a great experience and are looking forward to visiting in the future.response / report this review -
