Ordered from skip the dishes. Smallest amount of naan I’ve ever gotten from any Indian food restaurant. Ordered two orders of naan and it amounted to one naan cut into pieces . Worst butter chicken and had bone chunks in my chicken, chicken korma was watery and didn’t taste at all right. Would definitely stay away from this place.

Great service! Great atmosphere! Food was pretty good but the cheese naan was not as I expected, thought it was going to be cheese like in pizza😆. The beef kadai was good and they made it spicy as per my request!

Good taste and great service.
Really enjoyed our lunch at Royal India restaurant. We ordered Masala Chicken,
Chicken Tikka and Garlic Naan and everything was delicious.

I honestly only went there to grab something quick before I started my shift with transit. But I must say the ladies I met were super sweet and kind. They were quick with my order (granted it was a small order) But the food was really good. I would definitely like to dine in with the family.

We come at 7:50pm and we order our food and it’s been freaking 50 min and still we haven’t received any food. If it’s like very busy in the restaurant then we would have understand but there is only one more table and I don’t understand why it’s takes like 50minute just to make 3 plate order and why the hell skip is getting their order on time and not us like if you want to prioritize skip first then close this restaurant

Food is delicious and the buffet is awesome. The pakora is unbelievable. A little pricey though at ~$19.

I have noticed a significant downturn in business over the years at Royal India.
Although it has been years since I last visited, we decided to try it for lunch again.
Very average Indian food. Half way through my meal I found a long black curly beard or pubic hair in my meal. I made a fuss and told our waitress that it was completely disgusting!
They did not charge me for my meal but charged my guest (Who was so grossed out, she did not finish her meal either.)
A long hair in my food, average taste, dirty finger smudged windows, and a general tired feel to this place.
Save your time and money. Look elsewhere for good Indian food in Calgary.response / report this review -

Extremely disappointing. My husband and I had our civil wedding with our parents and siblings; we booked Royal India through open table as our 'reception' meal to treat our 2 families. We arrived in a limo to find out that the venue was booked out for a private function. The staff decided to seat us at a table outside the restaurant near the building elevators - the table was not even set up. We asked to speak to the manager, but there was no manager. The staff handled the situation extremely poorly; not even a simple sorry by them. They should warn customers who make reservations about private functions. We were really looking forward to having a nice meal and celebrating our wedding day.

My business partner and I attended a business meeting at this restaurant in calgary. Lady who served the food was very nice and helpful in picking out the snacks/treats that fit within his vegan diet. Best Indian food. The ambience was very nice. Highly recommended.

The atmosphere is very dull, the place looked deserted and the food tasted medicore, gravey was watery, pakoda felt half cooked, deserts were not fresh, fruit selection was next to nothing. I would definitely avoid this place

I am a complete food snob, I have never ordered butter chicken or tandoori chicken before because it's always dry and over cooked! But NOT here! My husband ordered the butter chicken and my daughter and I had the lamb curry and it was beautiful, everything was delish, my husband's chicken was moist and tender and the sauce was wonderful and not over cooked! The service was friendly! This place is what all Indian restaurant should aspire to be! We will definitely go back again and again! Thank you for giving me a new favorite place!

THE worst Indian food restaurant in Calgary. Calling the place terrible is an understatement. The decor is completely outdated and resembles a fast food place. I would look past the decor if the food was decent but unfortunately I found it bland, tasteless and expensive for the portions you get. Service was also slow and almost non-existent. The server brings you your food and then only shows up to bring you the bill.
You can tell how much pride the owner/manager of this establishment has that they haven't even bothered to reply to a single negative review posted here. It appears this culture of not caring also extends to their service staff - I have given this place several tries hoping to have a more positive experience but I've been disappointed every time.
In summary, DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT. IT IS A RIPOFF. Or be prepared to walk out disappointedresponse / report this review -

We visited after 3 years with group of 10.Food was delicious , fresh and plenty. Beth was attending every thing efficiently. she was playing all roles alone. Even before we could ask she clearded used plates. Our smallest group member is 7 months old Beth engaged her too . overall it was great get together at great ambience with tasty food.Veg & Non veg Had enough variety so everyone was happy. Great place and experience we will definitely go back .☺
