More than half a million of Canada’s frontline mental healthcare “workers” are less than twelve years old. They’re called COPMI – Children Of a Parent with Mental Illness – and there are 575,000 of them in Canada
I Am Still Your Child, looks at the challenges of the growing number of young children who live with parents who suffer from psychiatric disorders.
Such children often must take on caregiving responsibilities beyond their capacities and suffer from feelings of guilt, anger and anxiety. They might blame themselves for what is happening at home, or feel shame or embarrassment because of the stigma attached to mental illness.

TONIGHT!! We Are @TheMindfulArtivists (2018) LOVE x Ohara Hale Poster installation Lancement : 26 SEPT, 16 H, Rialto Hall
For the fifth year in a row, POP Montreal called on the inspiring youth of Love - Québec to create an original artwork for the festival in collaboration with some of their favourite local artists. This year, they invited multidisciplinary artist, author, and musician Ohara Hale to participate, teaming up with nine youths, aged 13–20: Marcelle Aubin Messier, Skye, Iman Ahmed, Satteva, Chris, Alice Costello, Maude L-M, Bryanna Do Couto, and Kamara Izzard.
Together they created a collaborative series of 40 posters covering topics like gender equality, ageism, the environment, self-love, mental health, body positivity, and animal rights. Their large-scale installation will be unveiled on the opening night of POP Montreal at Rialto Hall with a presentation by the participants, and will remain on display for the duration of the festival, before being moved to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in early 2019.

LOVE x Ohara Hale Installation d’affiches Lancement : 26 SEPT, 16 H, Rialto Hall
Pour la cinquième année consécutive, POP Montreal a fait appel aux jeunes de Love - Québec pour créer une œuvre d’art originale pour le festival en collaboration avec leurs artistes préféré·e·s d’ici. Cette année, ils ont invité l’artiste, auteure et musicienne multidisciplinaire Ohara Hale à participer au projet en équipe avec neuf jeunes âgé·e·s de 13 à 20 ans : Marcelle Aubin Messier, Skye, Iman Ahmed, Satteva, Chris, Alice Costello, Maude L-M, Bryanna Do Couto, and Kamara Izzard.
Ensemble, Ohara et les jeunes ont créé une série de 40 affiches touchant à plusieurs sujets, dont l’égalité des genres, la discrimination fondée sur l’âge, l’environnement, l’amour de soi, la santé mentale, l’amour de soi et le respect de son corps, et les droits des animaux. Leur grande installation sera dévoilée lors de la soirée d’ouverture de POP Montréal au Rialto Hall et suivie par une présentation animée par toutes les participant·e·s. L’œuvre sera exposée tout au long du festival avant de s’installer au Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal en début 2019.

Together, Ohara and young people have created a series of 40 posters on several subjects, including gender equality, age discrimination, environment, self-love, mental health, self-love and Respect for his body, and animal rights. Their large installation will be unveiled at the opening night of pop Montreal at Rialto Hall and followed by a presentation animated by all participants. The work will be exhibited throughout the festival before moving to the Montreal Museum of fine arts in early 2019.
