A Heat Alert (LEVEL 2) is being issued for July 4, 2018, and July 5, 2018, for Fredericton and Southern York County and Oromocto and Sunbury County. The alert will remain in effect for July 4, 2018 and July 5, 2018, only. Alert levels are based on to the highest reasonable predictions at the time of issuance and on data specific to Fredericton and Southern York County and Oromocto and Sunbury County.

HARS heat alerts are issued as early as possible the days before the days o...f the alert and can be reissued if conditions warrant.

Everyone is at risk of heat illnesses when a level 2 is reached. The heat should be taken into consideration if physical activities are to be undertaken. Those most at risk for heat illness include adults over 65, children 4 years old and under, people who are overweight, people taking some prescription or over the counter medications and those with certain chronic medical conditions. Care should be taken to ensure that those at highest risk of heat related illness are monitored and vulnerable members of our community are checked on regularly.
