  Charging for a bread basket and 21$ for a tuna tartare entree with 4 pieces of cucumber! Even the fries are not homemade and i was charged 6$ for a side order. Over priced. Used to love this place. It has changed unfortunately. Also has someone that cannot eat dairy, there was barely anything i could eat.

  Unfortunately my expectations were severely let down by Metropolitan tonight.
  
  
  
  I was so pleased to see that they had ONE vegan optionthe The Big Vegan salad, which sounded delish.
  
  
  
  When presented with the salad it looked nothing more than a 1 1/2 starter salad and didn't contain some of the ingredients in the description, like chick peas!
  
  
  
  I am very disappointed and will not return, and do not recommend this restaurant for any vegans or vegetarians as their options are so limited.
  
  
  
  I hope they will take this feedback and consider how they can make their menu more cruelty free!..

  Had a unique and delicious beet soup with the steak sandwich. The tender steak was very full of flavor and tasted wonderful with the mushroom and cheese topping. Loved the accompanying broth which tasted meaty but was not at all salty. The Kronnenbourg Blanc was a perfect pairing to wash it all down. Attentive service as well!! Can't wait to come back!

  Some friends were in town for a conference, we hadn't seen each other in 8 years. I'm local and suggested we meet at the Met for Hill Hour and we were not disappointed, excellent Happy Hour Menu, great service. We never felt rushed to leave, arrived at 5:15pm and left at 8:45 pm. Thanks Metropolitain Brasserie for making our get together that much more special.

  First time in - service was good but we ordered the cod croquettes and the first one we cut into had a hair cooked into it. Whilst they apologized, we we’re surprised they offered no discount nor did they remove it from our bill. Very disappointing first visit.

  I booked a reservation for July 4, 2015. I told the Metropolitain Brasserie only that the next day was my (then) girlfriend and I's first anniversary, that it was her favourite restaurant, and I wanted to do something special. I did not tell the restaurant that I would be proposing later that night (she said "yes").
  
  
  
  The service at the Metropolitain Restaurant went truly above and beyond. The manager gratuitously provided us with complimentary champagne and dessert (which was not necessary, but appreciated), but beyond that, they made the entire evening feel special. When we showed up earlier than expected, they had a table set aside for us. When we were indecisive on the wine selection, the server came back with three glasses of wine with samples for us to try, and pick our favourite; along with what they suspected our favourite would be. It was a creative solution and we both picked wine #2, which they had suspected we might pick. It made my girlfriend and I feel truly special and appreciated. When we expressed interest in a dessert that took a particularly long time to prepare, the server advised us of that in advance and followed up with us during the wait.
  
  
  
  The service was amazing but the food was even better. The tomato soup appetizer special was fantastic. It was creamy and spicy, very good. My girlfriend's french onion soup was also fantastic. The rib-eye 11 oz steak special was absolutely amazing; and the vegetables were almost as good. The blueberry crisp dessert (me) and creme brule (girlfriend) were also really, really good. I didn't try my girlfriend's main course on account of allergies, so I can't speak to it, but she said it was outstanding as well.
  
  
  
  The restaurant will forever be an important memory for us, and I look forward to making new memories there over the years.

  Yesterday we had very tasty breakfast listening to live music.In the evening we returned to taste desserts. Apple pie and chocolate cake were terrific. I highly recommend this cozy and wonderful place!

  Had to leave even before we were seated because the hostess was so rude and argumentative with my mother about which table we would choose (this in an empty house on a Sunday night). The Black Tomato got our business instead and was delightful. Weird that a restaurant in an area so dense with them would think they have the luxury of that kind of attitude.

  Always wonderful. My husband threw a surprise birthday dinner for me last night. As always the cocktails, wine and food were excellent. And the service. Brian is the best server in Ottawa!

  What an amazing place to dine. Everything was excellent! The waiter was so genuinely nice and gave amazing attention to service. The food was outstanding! I will be back and plan to go there whenever I am in town. �

  I was very disappointed. I called ahead and asked if they had any vegan options and they put me on the phone with staff member who is vegan. They told me they could make me an off menu risotto and so I made reservations. When I arrived they told me they could not make me the risotto :(

  One of the best filet mignon I have ever had, perfect. Delightfully fresh stacked tomato salad, sweet sorbet. Staff are always professional, funny and engaging. Coffee is fresh!

  Turned away at door because closed for private event. Even took the time to look at website before going. Next time won't be in my first choices.
