  Tomorrow is Election Day in Ontario and did you know that under Ontario’s Election Act employees who are qualified to vote are entitled to 3 consecutive hours off work (without a reduction in pay) to vote during polling hours (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.).

  This does not necessarily mean an employee is entitled to time off work - if the normal work schedule already provides 3 consecutive hours off work during polling hours, then no work scheduling changes are necessary. If 3 consecutive hours are not free during polling hours, then an employer must adjust the work schedule to accommodate the voting time requirement.
