We spent an absurd amount of money on a very mediocre product.the photos are nice but are nothing special and the cost is absolutely outrageous! They don't post their prices on their website because they know they would never get any customers if they did!
We had a coupon which is why we ended up booking a session. After the photo session is over they explain the packages (10 digital files for almost $500 with taxes!!). At that point we felt trapped and ended up spending waaaay more then anticipated :( I would love to see an itemized receipt of where the money goes.
Additionally, a couple of days after the photo shoot (before receiving the digital files we choose in the store) I called and asked if I could change a couple of our choices and was told we couldn't. I really can't understand how a company that charges so much money doesn't everything it can to make sure the customer is happy!
In hind sight I should have done more research and read some reviews. There are many negative reviews of this company--too bad they don't seem willing to change their business model as a result! Perhaps they need a critical mass in order to begin making changes. At the very least I hope this review helps convince someone to take their business elsewhere. Next time we will definitely try to find an independent photographer with actual skills and time.
I must say though, that despite the extraordinary cost and the so-so photos, the staff were all very nice. Nothing against them at all, I'm just really upset with the company itself.response / report this review -

Today was our first experience with photo shoots and it was great! We were a bit nervous at first because we decided to bring our dog along but Rose made us feel welcome and comfortable. She was funny and kind. We will definitely recommend this place (Mail Champlain) to our friends and family! Thank you for the amazing experience! :)

Our family of 4 people from 3 generations had fun with Rose at the Mall Champlain location. She was very considerate of Nana's age (94) while making us laugh and pose for a great variety of photos. There were so many, it was difficult to narrow the selection to the best few. Rose helped us throughout with no sales pressure; only friendly advice. I agree it is not cheap but professional photography isn't the same as bargain store photo-shops. We were very satisfied with the product, the service and the experience. Thank you Rose!

Just took business headshots at the Sq1 location. The studio was so accommodating to my schedule when i had to reschedule a few times to being sick. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Natasha greeted me and answered all questions I had. Claudia my photographer made me comfortable and allowed me to have so much fun with this shoot. I am so glad I chose this studio to get my business headshots done. Both these ladies went above and beyond and I now have photos that showcase my best self.

After being a loyal customer for nearly 6 years I was asked to take my business elsewhere because my style of photos doesn’t fit with their brand. I have always gone in knowing what I wanted ~ a plain white background and stunning photos, not my head getting chopped off and slanted photos. Oh well c’est la vie!

Just had my daughters 9th Birthday pics done at Bramelea City Centre. Nick took our photos. He was beyond friendly, made my daughter laugh, big smiles, AMAZING customer service. His ideas for different poses were remarkable. Then Aranja assisted me with choosing the best pictures. I think the hardest thing about this experience was trying to decide on the best pose. (I had a Groupon) They all were beautiful. It was my first time going to Magenta, and most definitely not my last. Thank you Magenta Bramelea!!!!

Wish I could put 0 Stars on this page. I'll give one star for some of the beautiful pictures, and the sake of rating! For the rest one of the worst ever!!!
We had a really bad experience in Newmarket, Upper Canada mall branch. The whole holiday photo-shoot experience, with a newborn, is supposed to be fun and a great memory to recall for the year to come ….. and possibly to repeat it every year! Our first Xmas photo-shoot memory was very unpleasant at this location. Extremely poor customer service and the whole experience from beginning to the end were very disappointing. Not to mention that due to really poor customer service, (or in fact no customer service at all), we decided not to have the pictures before Christmas only to prevent them from making us upset and disappointed.
The cost is not the most disappointing factor, but being not too cheap, and treating you like a client at a very low-level class place is very strange! For an event like a family photo-shoot, you’d like to remember it as fun ( at least to us). We didn’t feel welcome, no attention was paid to our needs ( with a baby on hand) or no attempt to make you feel comfortable nor important to their business as a client! Pictures and their skills were fine I have to add, but no people skills, zero customer service and not even trying to create an enjoyable event whatsoever. They don’t care about your time, and your crying baby, only their time is important and how they can make fast cash!!! you only feel rushed to get out!!!
No passion toward a newborn, nor even understanding the fact that a baby cant follows their timing ( not for the photo shoot itself – we made sure we are prepared but the whole administration process was extremely poor managed). Babies have their own time!!! They made us so unwelcome and disappointed to the point that I was ready to let go of all pictures and never return there even to pick up our photos. With my wife insisting to take the photos, we returned and were subject to extremely unprofessional and poor customer service AGAIN. In my opinion, they should re-train their reps on how to attract clients instead of making them run away!
I would not recommend this place to any families. You may want to pay slightly more or less, but make sure a holiday family photo shoot is something to have fun and enjoyable. Stay away from companies who don’t attempt to make you welcome and see you only as a dollar sign, without even trying to earn it!response / report this review -

We had a very delightful experience.
Our photographer in Fairview was very relaxing, professional and fun. We are happy with the results, and all our friends and family were also impressed.
For best results be prepared. Look at theirs and other websites. Choose wardrobe that reflects your lifestyle and attitude. They have props and hats, but if you want a unique look, bring your own.
Prices vary according to what you want.
If you take many poses, be prepared to drop a few $$$ as most of them will be good.
If you don’t like fun, fresh, out of the box portraits, then Magenta is not for you.response / report this review -

The square one location is brutal. They didn’t do what I requested. Poor customer service and to top it off The district manager of all Ontario was trying to handle the whole situation is very unprofessional.There was no point to even waste my time.
He’s even worse then the staff at square one.
Instead of trying to deal with the situation he gave me no options whatsoever and left me an unhappy customer day are so overpriced and considering that they won’t be getting my business again. There is way better out there!!response / report this review -

We have done about 6 photoshoots at Magenta5 in Sq 1 and 1 in bramalea. We have had amazing experiences except for a few hiccups during one of the sessions.
The most recent was a new born shoot at Sq 1 for our second daughter. Danielle(who normally works in Brampton) took our shots and in such a short time managed to capture some beautiful pics of our little ones. The family pic was the best!. We went to the Fairview location and the pictures we have received is horrible. After paying so much the pictures we have got is something we should have got while doing it at home. We can see our shadow and is so dark.
No refund policy and absolutely no customer care.

My Mommy & Daddy took me to see Rose at Champlain Mall in Brossard for some pictures. It was so much fun! I got to see flashing lights and wear a fun sheet in a big cushy chair! I had so much fun and Rose was really nice to me too ! I can't wait to go back with my fur brother Leon!

We had an amazing experience. My 5 year old daughter loved having a photo shoot, and loved the attention. They made it fun and silly for her, while still getting the great shots we were looking for! There were so many great shots, we had such a hard time choosing!

We did pictures of our 10 day old today with Marie at the Fairview location. She was great to work with, took spectacular pictures of a our baby girl, and explained all the packages to us very clearly, and helped us chose what was right for us. Thanks Marie!!
