just stop and walk around even if there are many cars, you can find a place to enjoy this wonderful trees, both sides are very good. Not much places where you can go inside of a tree, hit by fire but still alive.

As a person that lives on Vancouver Island I like taking first time visitors to the island here. I love seeing them experience the old growth temperate rainforests that make our region special. I personally recommend the park in late fall while the leaves are changing and the moss and ferns are starting to become vivid green again after the dry summer months.
I should add that I always try to avoid the place on summer as it is a crazy tourist trap and overrun with people. The serenity of the forest just doesn’t exist but that’s why as a resident can seek out other locations.response / report this review -

Definitely worth stopping off at this pocket of gorgeous trees on Highway 4. Trails on both sides of the road are good, but if time is short, make sure you do the trail on the south side of the road. Take care when crossing the road!

There are two nice hikes just off the highway, however they were quite crowded when we visited (at least compared to e.g. the Pacific Rim national park). Still worth spending some time there if you're close. As an aside: Please do stay on the dedicated paths as requested by the park authorities, given the visitor volume it seems especially important to not disturb the vegetation any more than it already is.

Beautiful park with some seriously huge tree! The trails are short, and easily accessible to all. Great place to stop off along the highway for a break. We were there around 4pm and managed to find a parking spot easily.

This place is breathtaking. Definitely one of my very favorite places to go for a walk. It's a fairly short pleasantdrive from Nanaimo. Would highly recommend taking a day trip out there. It's just a beautiful on sunny day as it is on a rainy day.

The wonders of these great old forests is very peaceful to see and hear. Take in how magnificent the old stand tall and really listen to the forest. Best to explore deep inside, away from the noise a the highway.

The trees and shrubbery in this park are incredible! Even though we just stopped for a few minutes to stretch our legs we were wowed by the breathtaking beauty of this park. The trails were a little muddy however, so I would recommend wearing boots after it rains.

This place is amazing. Everything is SO green and the trees are ridiculously big. Can't wait to come back here. I do recommend waterproof footwear though, trails can get very muddy
