  Sep 5—The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) and Pix Film Gallery is pleased to announce that Ottawa-based filmmaker Matthieu Hallé is now in residence as a filmmaker in the 2018 edition of the Studio Immersion Program, supported by the Petman Foundation. The award enables Canadian and International artists to use the studio at PIX FILM and production resources from LIFT in order to make a new artist project. Mathieu will use the award to work on a film performance that crates a hybrid projector that combines both digital and analogue images by replacing the light source of a 16mm projector with a digital projector. A unique Toronto-based film festival that presents all forms of small-gauge film: 8mm, Super 8 and 9.5mm, as well as works in installation, loops, personal, handmade, experimental, animations, diaries, essays, collage, cut-ups, performance/film, music/film and ‘proto-cinema devices’ like zoetropes. —Deadline is September 29, 2018.

Vicente, who previously served as Executive Director of the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), joins Cameron Bailey, who was previously announced as the Artistic Director & Co-Head, effective October 1, 2018.   Hi all, if you get the chance to come out and support Canada's first stereoscopic live action 3D feature film, you definitely should! It's called Dead Before Dawn, and it's the perfect blend of comedy and horror. If you like zombies and demons and Christopher Lloyd, you will enjoy this. I definitely recommend it for the fall holiday season! Comes to theaters Oct. 30th!
