  About a year ago I brought in a Shepard x that I rescue. He was on a chain tied to a tree with a dog house and given food and water. That was all.
  
  I brought him to Laws where he got the help he needed and found a forever home.
  
  Thank you laws and I often thnk of Charlie.

  I adopted 2 older cats age 8 n roughly 15 years old and I honestly feel these older cats get over looked from their age but I can tell you from experience, adopting these older cats you might worry about health problems and only have a few years with them. But I actually find the older cats to be so much more grateful, n even if I only had a few years with one, giving them a loving safe home to spend their senior years happy is so worth it! I find these older cats show not only love but appreciation. N they will live longer then you'd think. My 15 year old Romeo was estimated to be 15 but he came from a abandoned house with major dental problems along with other problems from being left behind when his family moved. N was all fixed up before he was put up for adoption. So given his age is based by his teeth by the vet he could be younger. But although he sleeps a lot, he is also one of the most playful cat I've ever owned. He is very clean n will love his forever family by massaging them n coming n rubbing his head against mine n greets me with such a loud purr. So thank you LAWS for giving our family 2 amazing older cats that will be a part of our home forever!!!!

  Great staff ..very caring and helpful..i found a small dog wandering around the lakefield hwy..the staff took him in..showed him affection that he needed..such a cute puppy he was..now i believe he is adopted out to a good home

  Hands down the nicest staff you could ever imagine, so knowledgeable, kind and careing. I adopted my fur babies Maxx (Was Moon beforehand) from the pet smart through laws last November and on Friday I went and picked up our newest member Booh (boo, just added an h). Since the 2 have met eachother they are almost like 2 peas in a pod. Playing together the next day and snuggling by mid afternoon. Maxx certainly loves having a little brother and I think Booh loves having a big brother that adores him so. Thank you so much for making my experience wonderful and I'll be sending some pictures of them through messenger :)

  Today I dropped off a found kitten/cat that I rescued last night who almost got hit by a car. Although believing this kitten has a home, I brought her into my home and fell in love with her, even though we were only together 24 hours. I brought her to LAWS this morning and I know this cutie will find her home or a new home really soon. They let me take my time saying goodbye to her and even said I could come back and visit and/or call for updates. The level of compassion/caring that this place has makes me want to come back and volunteer when I move back to Peterborough in the fall :)

  Absolutely incredible rescue!! I recently adopted My Brucey boy from laws, and he's had a complication with his eye that was removed and the ladies down at laws have been amazing in insuring he's looked after and is on his road to recovery. I would recommend them to anyone looking to adopt! �

  I called and asked if they could take in two older cats as their owner passed away on Christmas Eve and the family gave 36 hrs to find accommodations or they old take them to be euthanized, and Shawna , the woman that answered the phone told me that they wouldn’t take them as they are too old, would most likely get depressed and sick and it’s better for them to be euthanized she said that they mostly help younger cats as no one wants older cats and they are hard to adopt out.
  
  REALLY? That’s how you people put all the donations to work? By discriminating and helping those that are the easiest to help, the ones that are ‘a sure bet’ in being adopted out so you can collect your adoption fees? Shame on you!
  
  I find it disheartening and disgusting. Recommending to euthanize animals because there is a ‘chance’ they might get depressed and sick. Shouldn’t you be the first ones to step up and help them? Isn’t it up to organizations like yours to educate people about the need to help those that need it the most, not to turn a blind eye at suffering, promote compassion
  
  
  
  Let me tell you, I have rescued a number of cats, old, young, sick and healthy and an older cat has as much a chance to get depressed and sick in a cage as they young, full of energy kittens do, who all they want to do is run and play.
  
  An older cat is more settled, calm, less energetic, and might be actually happier in a smaller enclosure ie. cage than 2-3 year old cats you tend to help most.
  
  Perhaps you’re the ones needing education, and should take a step back and remember that it’s about the animals and not the dollars.
  
  Again, shame on you.

  I had the pleasure being able to take a mature dog his name was Henry and I had the pleasure I'm spending just over a year to have him as my companion I knew going in that his age and the bad heart would shorten the time that I would have with him but it's the Cancer Victim myself I was given a very bad prognosis besides the illness my motivation was gone and I had no real reason to do anything and then I got Henry LOL the staff particularly Brian treated me so well and kept his word all along the way we need more people that give their time and efforts and expect nothing in return I give them 5 stars then some it was so worth it and I hope to do it again

  Found my forever fur son from here yesterday�� The staff were very informative and eager to answer all of my questions. They did an amazing job helping me find a cat that was a perfect fit for me!!! I can not thank everyone enough!!! I am on cloud nine with love for my boy!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

  Their passion and devotion to any an all animals!! The way they stand up for what is right when it comes to the animals health and safety!!! You guys are amazing and don't let anyone try to tell you different!

  This morning we dropped off a sweet injured stray. The level of care and concern the staff showed was absolutely outstanding. He was immediately put into his own enclosure with a cozy bed and lots of toys. We were invited to call and check up on Jack (yes we named him) which we will happily be doing. Thanks so much to everyone at the shelter for being such kind hearted individuals ❤️

  Turning into LAWS the first time I was stunned by the puppies running around in the large yard, and then going inside and seeing how much room the cats had. It was wonderful to go into a shelter and not cry! On two accounts that I've been there for adoptions, the staff have impressed me with their knowledge of each personality each cat has, and that very much helped us narrow it down. Both cats I've seen who were adopted from LAWS are the cuddliest, most perfect cats too!

  Lived in this area for 14 years. My family has gotten our last two cats from LAWS. I love how the animals are taken care of. How loved they are and how safe and comfortable they are as well. What many don't know, (and I am sure I only know the tip of the iceberg) what goes on behind the wall of the adoptable cats. There are a couple of hundred other cats being nursed back to health etc to be an adoption candidaste. They save thousands of animals a year!! They NEED OUR SUPPORT!! #supportLAWS

  This is an awesome spot to find a new furry family member. I got my cat there a few years back. I just dropped them off a big bag of cat food. Great spot, Great staff

  Thanks so much for you call of concern regarding my lost dog Guinness one wk ago. It was a very emotional 24hr until he was returned safe and happy! It's people like u that give me faith that there still are good hearted people in the world still!

  Pretty LOW.you guys won't help older cats. Lets just put them to sleep!!! You shouldn't be in business!!!! Who cares about the ageit is about helping the animal. What a horrible business you have!!!

  Went in and met wonderful staff with great knowledge on each cat's needs and attitude. Ended up bringing home our big lovable furball Arthur (Previously Cuddles) who not even an hour after getting home can't leave either me or my girlfriend alone. What a sweetheart!

  On Saturday we adopted a kitten through Lakefield. Two lovely ladies that were at Pet smart in Whitby that helped us choose our kitten were so helpful and genuinely love what they do. The kitten we chose was named Rodney on the paperwork..we have decided to name him Riley. He is a busy fella getting acquainted with his new surroundings and loves to cuddle. ♡♡ Thank you.
