Thank you from Mel, myself & Mr. Bear! The words are comforting knowing so many loved this hairy character. As we read each comment the tears fell for both of us <3 the hurt is widespread, many people knew & loved him. Mr. Bear would meet each vehicle & escort them down the driveway, waiting for a door to open just to greet anyone, he loved the children. He was extremely protective over children & if you were too quick to pick up a child he made sure he let you know he was watching. Mr. Bear saved a toddler from possibly death, a car was backing up & didn't see her. He jumped on the drivers window & the car stopped saving the little girl. She is brought back each year to thank him for his quick thinkinghe was clever! Mr. Bear would swim all the time, then roll in dirt & shake beside all new visitors, listening to the screams, it was like he was laughing each time. Mr. Bear loved to retrieve & his favorite was bringing sticks back, you had to be quick & throw again or he'd get you wet, he could dive & bring eggs back that we threw in the water, never breaking 1, he loved the chasing of squirrels & didn't touch birds after his 1st encounter as a pup with a baby coot, he let it go & watched it run away. This goofy dog loved to steal the best produce you had picked, surveying all the treasures in the bin. He'd grab, run, lay down & enjoy your prized vegetable smiling all the time. During the times the buses came with the physically challenged individuals, he made sure he went under each hand if they were unable to pet him. He did everything he could to be your friend, especially if you were scared of him, he always made peace. I could go on all night telling you what a true & loyal friend/ companion & yes especially the Jessy's Garden Gatekeeper he was. We are making a sign that will read Bear Lodge as we continue to work on the outdoor kitchen. We know that another furry baby could not replace him & we wouldn't want to try. He was amazing, thank you for loving him so much too! <3

It is with great sadness we say good-bye to Mr. Bear. Mr.Bear took his spot under the oak tree & that's where he found his peace. We've buried him in the orchard, a place he loved to explore. We'll miss you friend, companion & hero! RIP Mr. Bear <3 <3 <3

We received plenty of rain through the night & it's far too muddy today to pick or weed. Hopefully we'll get back to gardening tomorrow. Jessy's Garden will open for the public on Tuesday morning July 17th at 10 am. This is what is ready Zucchini, swiss chard, kohlrabi, green onions, cucumbers, dill & peas. We'll be open until 6pm nightly, weekends will be 10-6 for the summer. Prices are .80 pd. you pick or $1.00 pd. if we pick excluding seniors & disabled individuals.
The chicks are now in an outdoor pen & growing quickly, already trying to nest. Won't be long before we're seeing pullet eggs.

Bonny & Mel, On behalf of the Kinette's we want to say thank you for all that you do for this community, not only with food, you are giving us hope and feeding many souls with all the hard work that you do. We hope this donation will help you for many days to come. We are so happy to be a part of this. Peavy Mart was so gracious in helping us out, that made it possible to buy you guys the gift cards as well. (They can go to gas, agro supplies or building whatever you guys need). You have truly touched so many of us <3. Our National President Terri said that was by far the best Service Project she has ever been to. This is what the back garden looks like about 20 mins. ago. Check out the size of the zucchini flower! We believe with the application from Back To Your Roots it has made a tremendous difference in the growth & production!

Good Morning, as many of you know there was hail last night, the hail hit us & I prayed for it to stop, it did. There is some damage but it could've been a lot worse, grateful the gardens were spared yet again. Many changes in the yard & the mobile can be seen from farther down the hwy. since the bush has been depleted. Things are looking so much better, the yard needed this makeover.
Mr. Bear seems to be responding well to the meds. & even tho it's only a couple of days he looks great. Thank you for including him in your prayers, it was extremely scary thinking we might lose him. He'll still be here to greet you ☺️ Have a great weekend!

Our gentle giant is ill, so tomorrow Mr. Bear sees the vet. He's just turned 13 & praying for our furry friend that meds. may be the answer.

Good Morning, We are grateful for the rain, it has made a huge difference. The gardens are exploding with flowers, the beginning of our 2018 crop! Yesterday for lunch 3 cucumbers, zucchini & green onions were pickedyes it was worth a year wait for the freshest & tastiest veggies we've had. This is just the beginning, we're not open for picking yet but will be within a week for cucumbers, dill & zucchini. We need volunteers for weed picking, the rain has made the weeds extremely happy. We'll be here all weekend Leave your worries at the gate & the gardens will take care of the rest <3
