  I have used H&R for my taxes my entire life. Never again. I have been informed that despite their lack of service and diligence they actually profit a percentage of our refunds. In addition to their charges and fees, I might add! I went in to file for basic (single T4) taxes, via cash back. Was informed that "wasn't an option due to scammers last taxation year". Odd, as I've noticed their ad campaign is pushing that pretty heavily. Was also answered with "only a two hundred dollar holdback" when I asked if any holds showed on the system. Apparently she was grossly incorrect. My entire refund ($2000+) was sent to a government agency who had no legal, or moral rights to any funds of mine. So; no cash back, overcharged by $30 for tax "services", and left fighting for my refund more than two weeks after RevCan sent it. When called back about my complaint (had to call twice, took two weeks to hear back!) the gentleman was dismissive of my concerns, and stated "I know this agent personally, she's one of our best. She would never say those things". So much for customer support. If these are "their best" people, and efforts, to rectify situations, I'm sadly disappointed. Save yourself time, money, and your dignity. Go ANYWHERE else. I've learned my lesson, hopefully it can save others from Hassles & Robbery Block heads.

  This incident had happened today March 10th , 2015
  I walked in to H & R block the one located at 102-5809 MacLeod Trail, Calgary, AB , beside Chinook Mall around 2:00 p.m. to file my taxes and they booked me an appointment with an accountant for 4:30 p.m. and I asked the office admin a friendly question about the name of the accountant, as I had a very good customer experience with some accountant that filed my taxes 2 years ago, then the office admin answered me “ Dana “ and then she followed it by saying “ She’s a Chinese girl” !! and I was kinda bugged as I didn’t expect that she refers to her colleague by ethnicity ! then I said ok and I walked out.
  I showed up around 4:25 p.m. and the office admin saw me and she was leaving apparently and she handed off her task to another admin. Then another customer walked in and wanted to file his taxes as well and then the office admin told him that “ Dana” will be assisting him, and he didn’t have any appointment booked yet. Then the office admin told me that “Dana “ will be with me shortly in about 10 minutes, and I said “ ok, I don’t mind”.
  Then I waited and waited and after 20 minutes later I asked if there’s any one else that can work on my files, the office admin of course started apologizing and said “ Dana” will be with me after she’s done. Then after half an hour “ Dina” is still with that walk-in customer and there’s another accountant that was about to be done with her shift as she mentioned that she’ll be done in 20 minutes and that was at 4:40 p.m.
  The office assistant didn’t even take the initiative and ask that accountant if she can stay few more minutes to file my taxes and she knows that I was really frustrated and felt so disrespected and I told the office admin that ” this walk-in customer took my turn and I was here sitting on the chair waiting for Dana “.
  So now ! if we went back to the beginning of my experience today with H&R block and an office admin referred to the accountant “ Dana “ as “ a Chinese girl “ and that walk-in customer who took my place while I was waiting for my appointment was a “ Caucasian “ in race ! I’d like to ask a question, is H&R Block following a racial discrimination policy with their clients ? and is that also why they set me up an appointment with a “ Chinese girl “ accountant rather than a caucasian one ?!!
  What else many other customers would be experiencing at that H&R Block office that we’ve never heard of ?!
  I already decided to go to another H&R Block office , downtown may be and see if there are better ethics being followed !
