We are at it again! The Earth is about to shift her light So we are approaching a new #lightstories2018! Marjorie Knight is also a well known and well loved storyteller at Feminine Harbor. She has spoken about #humanity and has also served as our MC. Marjorie has been a single mom for 30 years, a daughter, sister, mother, friend who walks with others through the varagries of life. An Advocate for those without a voice, those experiencing poverty as the working poor. This strong #Jamaican woman was also the NDP candidate in Cambridge, during our last provincial elections. We are at it again! The Earth is about to shift her light So we are approaching a new #lightstories2018! Carolina Pereira Miranda has spoken in all the three other series, and will be back on Feminine Harbor's stage for the last time as a storyteller, at least for this decade. She hopes to come back in ten years, to offer hindsight persctive of what it meant to be in her 40s. As an #immigrant woman with so many intersectionalities she will be sharing some crucial moments about her life story where it became obvious to her that the #Guidance of other women is crucial, and at times, life saving. She is a single mother, originally from #Brazil 🇧🇷 , and she has recently understood the importance of openly reclaiming her #Indigenous heritage so that memory, connection to the land and human relations and stories can continue to defy any inhumane systems. She is an educator in #Ontario and holds an M. Ed. with focus in female leadership. She created Feminine Harbor and is the co-chair for the Women's March Waterloo. She writes essays, poetry and articles on the importance of #memory, #feminism, and #relationships in her spare time. We are at it again! The Earth is about to shift her light So we are approaching a new #lightstories2018! Meet Manjit Kaur Grewal. She is our youngest storytellers this season, where we focus on the importance of #Guidance.
Manjit is a community pharmacist who is currently working at a local drugstore, Remedy's Rx. She works collaboratively with a team of family physicians to ensure that prescribed drug therapy is appropriate, effective and safe. She also administers vaccines, dispenses methadone, educates patients on various health care topics and helps patients select appropriate over the counter medications for minor ailments. Manjit completed her Bachelor of Science in Honours Biochemistry at the University of Waterloo. She then went on to complete her PharmD at the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy. She currently serves on the board of directors for Neruda Arts. Outside of work, Manjit likes to enjoy the outdoors as much as she can by participating in activities like camping, hiking and canoeing. She is also an avid concert goer and is currently taking guitar lessons at Long and Mcquade. She took this photo in #Iceland 🇮🇸! So you can imagine she has stories to share

The placenta is a fascinating organ and which we highly underestimate in our Western world. If we can get past our fear of the power of female sexuality and decide to really understand its incredible properties in a rational way, I believe so much in our culture can change. From its healing properties, to its ability to transfer not only chemicals, but I also believe memory, the placenta is the connector. This is a fascinating read if you can get past some of the pictures. Since I wanted to be an ObGyn when I was a child, this was a pleasure to read for me. :)

I had the fortune of meeting Carolina at a K-W Poetry Slam event at the beginning of 2017. What a wonderful and dedicated woman she is! I attended my first Feminine Harbour event just a few weeks ago. It was such a unique, entertaining, and enlightening event. The women I had the pleasure of listening to, spoke, read, sang and performed from their hearts. The power behind their stories was captivating, and inspiring. It made me wonder what great things even I can do if I have the courage to stand up! Carolina, your desire to spread love, strength and confidence to the women of this world is amazing. Please do not stop doing what you do. Creating a platform for any and all women to stand up and share their stories and heart songs is just what we all need. I am looking forward to seeing more events in the future! (And who knows, maybe someday I'll want to share a story of my own! :)
