Today is #BellLetsTalkDay to raise money and awareness for mental illness. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 15% of adults aged 60 and over suffer from a mental disorder. Mental health is extremely important for all ages and you don't always know who it is affecting. It's important to reach out, and support each other; a conversation can go a long way! One of Exploring Horizons main goals is to engage senior citizens in the community. Thus, Exploring Horizons provides mentally engaging as well as physically engaging activities. If you would like to get involved, please visit: http://exploringhorizons.ca/donate/ All donations will go directly to improve the program. We really appreciate your continuous support!!
Thank you so much to everyone that came to our Exploring Horizons session on Saturday Jan 21st! A special shoutout to Youth Coordinator Nive who helped run the day. A huge THANK YOU to Jim, a friend of Exploring Horizons, who donated the refreshments and another big THANK YOU to Blue Heron Books for donating the BINGO prizes. Another thank you to Lee who has continuously supported Exploring Horizons and led qigong - Exploring Horizons would not be the same without you AND a final thank you to our wonderful guest speaker, Mr. Mahadevan - the director of operations at UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health, who talked about "innovations in the mental health care field." We hope you all enjoyed the day! To find out more about how you can get involved, please visit: http://exploringhorizons.ca/donate/
