  I would give zero stars if that was an option. Ordered hot and sour soup which was extremely thick and inedible. My deep fried prawns were not de veined which was extremely off putting.

  Dover Chinese Food is a small take out place in North Nanaimo. They also have a few tables available. Dover's menu is quite large. This is the first Chinese place I tried in Nanaimo after moving here in 2015. The portions are generous and the food is tasty. They had a couple of items I've not seen before. They serve up massive egg rolls and their Hot and Sour soup was nothing like that served down East. Both were very good. Their Singapore noodles were absolutely scrumptious. I must try their Shanghai noodles next time. The people are nice too.

  Depending when you order, they can be very busy. Usually mid week, and weekends. I like their portions, combos can be shared between two people. Their chowmein varies time to time as well, sometimes its pulled chicken or that processed stuff. Sweet and sour, which is my favorite, comes a little hard sometimes with too much or too little sauce. I'd like it if separate orders of other choosing should be sized and priced accordingly, but its only 1 size and 1 price. Id say my review of the place is neutral, I'll still order from them time to time.

  Terrible service... Always a long wait compared to the quoted pick up time. I just tried to call and place an order at 11:15 pm (they close at 12) and the first time I called they picked up and immediately hung up. Ok maybe it was a mistake. Called back and my phone flashed that I had been put on hold.. then the call was disconnected. Called back AGAIN and it just rings with no answer. Could have just told me that they closed early or whatever the case was. Guess were ordering a pizza.. I have to admit the food is pretty great when you can actually get it.

  Bad business - this place states that their restaurant is open until 12am on Saturday's - but I called many times just after 11pm and no answer. Like many small businesses in this town, they operate under their own discretion without creating repertoire and consistency with their business practices so customers are turned away for service.

  Dover Chinese offers traditional American-style Chinese Food at an affordable price. They're better than the other big Chinese Food chains in town, and prepare 4-5 dish meals in around 20 minutes on average. Definitely recommend if you're in need of dinner in a pinch.

  Just moved to Nanaimo and was craving Chinese .Awesome food and the person that answered the phone was polite and got my order correct the first time had to wait an hr for delivery BUT it was well worth it. I ordered a combination meal and there was lots for one person and it was hot and fresh .I will deffinatly order from here again.Thanks Dover Chinese .☺
