Description

The Canadian International Summer Harp Institute (CISHI) is an initiative born from the hugely successfully World Harp Congress in Vancouver in July 2011. CISHI is conceived as a place for harpists of all ages and levels to immerse themselves in a week of intensive training on their instrument with world-renowned teachers and to enjoy the camaraderie of similarly motivated students.

All courses include private lessons, workshops (eg. rhythm, theory, improvisation, arranging), daily stretch and movement class as well as other possible additions depending on the number of registered students.

Besides solo repertoire for study in private lessons, each participant should bring a piece they are interested in arranging and/or improvising upon. Over the week, we will analyze the pieces (chords, form, rhythm) and then use our analysis to build an arrangement. From there we will delve into improvising either a verse of their pieces and/or develop intros, decorations, etc.

RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) repertoire and technical levels to use as a planning guide for the faculty. Number of lessons, workshops, etc are the same for all students.
