  The food and the service were awful. I order the Croque Monsieur which was an open-faced sandwich with a soft, runny, sunny-side-up fried egg on top. It came with a salad which was comprised only of large leaves of lettuce. Although there was only one other customer in the restaurant, the waiter found it necessary to ask me a question while my mouth was full of food. Upon finishing my meal, I summoned the waiter. I mentioned that it was rude of him to ask me a question while my mouth was full. He responded that he cannot check each customer to determine whether or not they are eating. I told him that he could and that a professional waiter would not do anything to annoy their customers. Then I dropped the large lettuce leaves one by one onto my plate and asked if this was their version of a salad. He responded that it was a green salad. I told him that, by definition, a salad is a mixture of ingredients and this contained only lettuce. He told me to stop playing with the lettuce leaves and to lower my voice (which wasn't at all raised). As a single, older female, I found the waiter's attitude was sexist, patriarchal, and paternalistic. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

  Amazing atmosphere and the beef bourguignon is amazing. This is a go-to restaurant. Great service and well priced.

  What you should know. Ever since the chef from Rigalade stopped working here the so called French food has taken a dive. EVERYTHING has smoked bacon in which while delicious in itself overpowers the flavours of all the dishes it is put into. The Coq au Vin has bacon in it, the mussels have bacon etc. The mussels which were delicious with the old chef come in a thick dense sauce rather than the silky one that you can dip bread into. Oh sigh, I wish that the Crocodile was not so far away.
  Go to Nightingale instead on west Georgia if you feel like crossing the bridge.

  Excellent food. Very accommodating for my restricted diet. I highly recommend this local independent restaurant. I'm bringing my husband back for lunch tomorrow!

  Love the decor and the atmosphere. Large windows let in ample natural light - perfect for food blogs! Jorge provides top notch service and makes wonderful mocktails. Brunch is excellent - Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict with Potato Roesti & Brioche French Toast with Walnuts and Banana adding Foie Gras is a brunch meal made in food heaven. Cloth Aged Magret Duck Breast, on the new summer dinner menu, is a well executed dish with well balanced flavour. Highly recommend making the trip out to West Vancouver for fantastic French fare! Executive chef Dilan Draper creates a simple and delightful menu, sure to please your palette!

  This was our second visit to Cafe Ca Va in the past few weeks. The food was spectacular!!! Congratulations to Alain and Brigitte for bringing a new level of dining to West Vancouver. Their modern french food is beautifully crafted and presented. Everything we tried was nothing short of awesome.
  Now we don't have to cross the bridge to find great food. Thank you!!!!
