So sad it's gone
Appears to be permanently closed. Went by recently to find a message redirecting mail and a kitchen supply auction message. A shame, I would have liked to go one last time.
One of the only places to get good schnitzel in Windsor. Not cheap though and the dumplings are often watery. It's hit or miss. Sometimes it's amazing and I question why we don't go more often then we go back and it's just not that good.
Great Hungarian food! Owners retired after 30+ years on September 11, 2016 and closed the doors. It will be sadly missed.
In 1989, I had the absolute worst pizza ever at a mother's pizza in New Market, Ontario. An experience that I tell friends about some 27 years later. That experience was beaten handily today at the Blue Danube Hungarian restaurant on Ottawa St in Windsor. Mind you, I am not a foody.. I eat fast food and am not a fussy person. So, here is my review. A tiny, watery cabbage roll soaked in bland gravy with water-logged meat that resembled sawdust and tasted like chicken Bologna. 3 raw perogies that tasted like the frozen ones at the supermarket, cooked in water with slimy onions. Portions of food covered less than 20% of the plate size. The bread served at the beginning of my stay was ok, but the house dressing on the salad was 1 tsp of ranch diluted with a quarter cup of water.. The dressing basically looked like leafy salad with skim milk poured on it. The breaded fried broccoli we had for starters was maybe ok, to bland. The dip, again was tasteless and watered down like dipping in milk. Too bad, because the lady who served us was very polite, but a bit slow. Overall, I found myself feeling instantly "heartbroken and insulted" At the first sight of the main dish, as this was supposed to be my father's day treat from my wife. I personally would rather eat a regurgitated mcdouble in retrospect.
Sad :(
To celebrate an anniversary me and my fiance showed up after work, and they closed early The food is good tho, I'm really disappointed.
