The restaurant had a lot of promise at first. Everything was neat and tidy and tables were all set very nicely. We arrived at approximately 2pm so we were just in time for the lunch menu. The items listed on the menu all looked quite delicious so I was looking forward to eating. The waiter however was very awkward and pretentious. After we ordered the drinks and food, he brought out a mini baguette in a paper bag along with a bowl containing two rectangles of butter. I would expect this kind of presentation at a fast food restaurant, but definitely not at one like this. The tea my companion ordered arrived quickly, but cold. I ordered the Grilled Turkey with au jus topped with caramelized apples. My friend ordered the smoked salmon with wasabi mayo on a baguette. Both dishes were very disappointing. There was so much gravy on mine, that the bread was completely soaked and soggy. The turkey did not taste fresh, and the caramelized apples were just 2 rather thick chunks of apple placed on top of the heaping mass of gravy and turkey pieces. The gravy tasted like instant gravy you purchase at the grocery store, and the slice of bread the turkey came on looked just like the cheap sliced bread at coop or safeway.
My friend's meal was equally underwhelming. It consisted of two small, overtoasted pieces of baguette, topped with smoked salmon and onion slices. The "wasabi mayo" was sparsely spread onto the bread and the salad the meal came with was basically grocery store bagged lettuce with a slight lemon dressing. When we shared our opinion with the waiter, he did not offer to get something else made for us - he basically just walked away and strategically avoided us until we looked as if we were about to leave.
All in all, our meals were over-priced and less than mediocre. It felt like something one could order at Wendy's. I was very disappointed and do not think that I will be returning.
