I love these shoots where I get to work with business women to create some of the first professional portraits they have ever had. Say "NO" to Bullying
I woke up this morning to another (she has written dozens over the past few years) aggressive email from a client who has owed me a small amount of money for over 2 years. I long ago let go of that amount and put it behind me-no big deal. However this particular girl has decided she is going to try to cyber bully me by putting bogus negative reviews on all my pages- bad mouth me (triangle) and use her perceived position of power in social media to intimidate me into giving her portraits for free. She is using insults to my character- confusion and exclamation marks to get what she wants. One problem is I represent the voice of reason.
I am about love and empowering women. I am a survivor of abuse and bullying as a child and young woman. When I see women like this abusing me and my business and character, I see somone who has perhaps been bullied themselves—this seems to be a pattern that works for her- gets her what she wants. Instead of responding in attack I respond in understanding but I hold my ground.
Next time being mean to another woman or person crosses your mind, take a pause a wonder if it is really sending out the right message to others. I am not Christian however the bible preached ‘do not do onto others that which you would not want done onto you!”. Universally this is so true- the world is a magnet and if you treat others with contempt and manipulation (regardless of their origin of hurt) you are simply attracting this threefold into your life and family.
Be strong ladies and support each other rather than kick down your sisters and brothers. All conflict stems from a weakness or hurt in yourself projected onto another. It happens so we can grow and shed our hurts.
Don’t be a bully. Period. Don’t use your power and connections to hurt others as the abundance in your life shall come crashing down. Instead consider love and connection. All conflict can be healed with this approach.
This topic is becoming ever so present on my mind since I know have school aged children myself. My son has been a victim of bullying since grade 1. I have even heard of him starting to bully another child. Bullying is contagious. We must teach each other to speak vulnerably to express our upsets and not lash out in retaliation. We must tell someone what is happening and speak up without focusing on the fear of retaliation.

As a working mother of two children under the age of 9 I find myself longing for the little baby moments I had with my children. I feel the chronic guilt of being too busy.
I made this video 'The Last Time Poem' by an unknown poet using my portraits about 4 years ago. I see how swiftly time is passing and they are changing every week. I watch as they start being pressured into society's rushed expectations of perfection and efficiency; a world becoming more about your 'rating' than about your character. I try to stand strong teaching them compassion and spirituality that will hopefully anchor them here on Earth rather than out there in cyber space. Time feels so condensed.
I remember their births and first smiles so vividly like they were just a year ago. Each one was a last time. I remember their little outfits, their fussy cries, and the weight of their bodies in my arms. Now they are too heavy for me to carry and they want to do things for themselves, "no Mommy, I can do it".
I am bracing myself and cherishing every moment now as if it is the last time.

Amazing, high quality artwork. Allison is an amazing artist and her brilliance shines through in her art. She gives a great attention to detail and always delivers on her word. I love that she comes to you so that you can shop through your pictures and choose the ones you would like to have in a portrait or in a beautifully crafted photo album. Talk about first class service! Her aesthetic is hauntingly beautiful. I swear that I blush when I see the canvas of my husband and I that she took when I was pregnant with my first child. It looks like the picture will come to life! Such soulful work. She's such a sweetheart as well!

My 12yr old son helped Allison with a test tintype at this year Vankleek Hill May Show and he thoroughly enjoyed his experience!! It was great to see him interested in this vintage type of photography and is the proud owner of his own tintype portrait !! Thank you Alison for this cool and fun opportunity!
