My family and I stayed at Sunset Beach Condos in Ambergris Caye over Christmas Holiday of 2015. Deb Neisius, manager of this and several other condo communities was extremely helpful and informative all throughout the process of booking the condo, the puddle jumper flight from Belize City to Ambergris Caye Plus the arrangements for cab pick-up, the golf cart rental and the cab arrangement at the end of our trip back to the airport. We were able to pre-buy groceries from a local store which were delivered and stored before we even arrived.

Coming from freezing weather, it was as though we landed in heaven. The Caye is beautiful. The taxi drier, Manolo, who was assigned to pick us up was waiting for us as soon as we exited the airport. The groundskeeper was awaiting us at the front door when we arrived with keys and helpful tips about the area. We had a beautiful three bedroom condo with a balcony overlooking the beach and private dock. The tour company was right across the street and we had a wonderful time snorkeling the reef. There are two wonderful restaurants and local grocery store within walking distance.

The trip into San Pedro is short if a bit bumpy. Be warned it's a dirt road until you get closer to town and driving over it in a golf cart can feel like a Disneyland ride if it just rained. San Pedro itself is charming and the people are very friendly. There wasn't a restaurant we ate in that didn't have delicious food and great service. From San Pedro, we took the ferry over to Caye Caulker, another smaller, but charming island.

The three tips I would like to give people considering Belize for their next vacation destination are:

    1. Bring mosquito repellant. If you happen to be a person that mosquitoes find irresistible, you will need it!

    2. Try to arrive in Belize City as early as you can. The Puddle jumpers are prop planes and when it's dark and the clouds drop down or its raining, they could cancel your flight until the next morning. These planes operate on lines of sight.

    3. Contact Deb Neisius at Sunset Condos. She really has vacation arrangements on Ambergris Caye down to an art form.

    Best Regards,
    Cathy DB
