Food was good, seemed quite a bit pricier than comparable restaurants on the island

Toshiya-san cares about the details and that GUARANTEES you will have the best sushi of your life at his restaurant Jyoto! We had visited his restaurant the day before to check it out as we were walking around Mahogany Bay and made a reservation for the next evening. We casually had mentioned how my wife was from Canada. Just a general conversation of saying hello. Now what happened next I can’t promise he will do for everyone or everyday, but it is the reason I can safely say that Toshiya-san is the best sushi chef I’ve ever met and he serves the best sushi I’ve ever had.

When we arrived the next day we ordered all of the vegetarian offerings he had: vegetable tempura roll, tofu, miso soup, another vegetable roll, etc. and ever single dish was an explosion of flavor and delight. As we were finishing the meal another item arrived to our table that the chef specially made for us that had avocados and tomatoes and tempura seaweed and was not only unbelievably flavorful but was truly artwork. It looked like a beautiful forest! After the meal Toshiya-san visited our table to make sure everything was to our liking and explained the last dish. He knew we were vegetarians and from Canada so he wanted to special make something we’d not only enjoy but remind of us home. What a class act! Go to Jyoto and have the best night of your life.

This man is a sushi master, thankful to find some authentic Japanese food on the island. He put on a feast for us!! Habanero Ramen was delicious along with the sushi only the freshest! Recommend and would come back to splurge a little ;)

The food was good, however, it is a $40 round trip cab ride from town and I spent $100 on lunch, and left there hungry.

If you don't have $140+ to drop on lunch, this is not the place for you.

Don’t even know where to start! Our meal was amazing yesterday. Every bite an incredible memorable treat! Toshia is really talented. The seared ebi and salmon, the Ho Ne, and the crazy good Ikura wrapped with Sake.Ahhh! Paradise in Paradise!!!!!!

Absolutely incredible sushi and Japanese specialties! Jyoto would shine in any market, anywhere. The sashimi sampler offers a wide variety of locally fresh-caught seafood from Belize. The pork belly is as good as I've found anywhere. And the specialty rolls are both unique, and delicious. My favorite is an off-menu item, so you'll have to request it by name - the rainbow sushi taco (with seaweed paper). Be sure to try some of the house specialty cocktails, as well. The wait staff are exceptional, and the location within Mahogany Bay Village is great.

    Absolutely loved this place!!!
Can't believe that this restaurant is on Ambergris CAYE! Really?!
Had a delightful lunch and can't wait to go back and try everything on the menu. Worth the ride down and every penny. So impressed by the fact that he locally sources the snapper, amberjack and lobster.
If you are into real sushi, treat yourself, you want be sorry!

We were able to try Jyoto for the first time last night and it was amazing. First of all the decor in the restaurant is amazing! They have outdoor seating, indoor seating first floor and second floor (inside is AC). The food was amazing! We had the sashimi, California roll, spicy tuna crunch roll, and rainbow roll. The service was incredible from the knowledge of the food and drinks down to filling my water glass 5-6 times through out the night. I highly recommend visiting Jyoto, they are still in a soft opening so make a reservation ahead of time. Their official opening should be in august and they also to plan to have a lunch menu.
