Of all the amazing experiences we had in Belize, this one made the biggest impression on us. We drove out into a rural area expecting a factory, and ended up feeling like we had lunch with a family, after a generous presentation on the sociopolitical, gastronomic, and medicinal history of chocolate. My Hershey's-raised ten year old was enthralled by what was essentially a three hour conversation and demonstration of the harvesting, roasting, and grinding of chocolate that ends up tasting much different than what she's used to (and so much more real). My "I don't care for sweets" husband said he enjoyed our time with Juan even more than catching a 3 foot barracuda the next day. Go see for yourself.

Unbelievably amazing place! The family who runs this farm/factory are fantastic people. We had an awesome tour and chocolate making demonstration, followed by a chocolate tasting and phenomenal home-cooked meal. You have to visit!

Awesome lunch experience. Chocolate chicken is ridiculously great. Learning how to make your own chocolate was wonderful. One of the best parts of our 2 week trip.

Amazing Maya owned farm to table chocolate company that makes really excellent dark chocolate in the heart of Belize's cacao growing region, the Toledo District. The only chocolate company in Belize to own its own cacao farm. Innovative Maya entrepreneurs making a difference in their home village and country. Juan and Abelina are the best. I take visitors there with my tour company all the time and everyone loves them, the chocolate making experience, the tree to bar tour activities and the really excellent dark chocolate.
