  The first thing you need to do is go to the museum (kind of unnoticeable on the far left of the parking lot) and buy a $2 book that gives the history and significance of all of the memorials (book is in English and Russian). There is a museum that shows photos of past memorials and photos of construction of present ones. It also has stories and photos of survivors from Khatyn and other villages--only in Russian though.
  The whole complex is very harrowing, but so worthwhile. Very well done in typical Soviet style (concrete).

  This memorial is to open the eyes of the world to the horrible atrocities done to Belarusian families by the Nazis in World War 2. This village helps us know what happened to the hundreds of villages and millions of Belarusian Jews and natives. Warning though.this place will break your heart to the sorrows of these wonderful people. A must see for every visitor and tourist to Belarus.

  Очень трагичное место. Когда гуляешь по Хатыни изредка бьёт колокол. Ощущение просто жуткое. Это надо видеть. Словами не описать это чувство.
