After watching the movie The Fortress, visiting this place was really, really amazing. To remember how brave these soviet soldiers were by fighting the Nazis during 40 days when the soviet army was outnumbered and didn't have the weapons for it. They are heroes. True heroes.

Huge memorial with ruins of fortress, museums, monuments. Very atmospheric. Good place for people who like the history of WW2.

It's better to come here during summer though the winter is very beautiful and it has it's own charm the cold can be too intimidating

Amazing history and touching heroic monuments for the men who died. This area passed hands multiple times during WWII which led to MANY casualties here and in the surrounding area.

Church in the fortress is amazing. Don't mind its renovated exterior - just step inside. You'll be surprised. Memorial itself is a great example of soviet monumental memorial complexes.

This place become a place for tourists, the spirit of war disappears and just "good red army" lasts. Before it was a good place to show what war makes to people and with people, now just tourist attraction.

Its history is more impressive than its architectural beauty. Thanks to my local guide Vadim, I learnt a lot about its history. Love the comment that "nazi takes photos of everything they do, including crime". Soviet style sculptures are equally impressive. Nearby there's the border of Belarus and Poland. Funny that it fascinates me as I've never been to a controlled border.

Too much pride, typical communist style. Loud words about the "great victory" everywhere. Dear Mr Lukashenko, put an end to the communism at last and move your country towards the Western world.

No info in English, difficult to understand how to cross the road to head towards the city (it's under the bridge but it's impossible to spot it)

You can still see the bullet marks on the walls from World War 2. Amazing place. On the National Holiday, you can hear soldiers shooting their rifles. It makes you feel that horrific atmosphere of the war a bit.
