The Bochwic Family Palace in village Paulinava (Brest Region). It was built in 1906 in neo-gothic style under order by Jan Otto Bochwic (son of famous Polish- Belarusian educator, philosopher, moralist, writer Florian Bochwic). This homestead was called in order of Jan Ottow's mother - Paulina Bochwic (Maevskaya). Actually it was more like vila than traditional homestead. The terrace and a small chapel as a part of the house can be clearly seen on old photographs. Jan Otto was a participant of the uprising of 1863-1864. He was sentenced to death, which later was replaced by deportation. After serving his sentence, he was actively involved in the lives of their estates. The Bochwic liked to gather together as a family and invited friends in this palace-villa. For example, in 1909 Eliza Orzeszkowa visited Paulinava. I don’t know how long the Bochwic Family was able to own this homestead, but under the soviet government and till 1995 here located military hospital. Now the palace is ruined, but I saw some results of renovation for outbuildings.
