He started as a senior political reporter at Mmegi newspaper (a Botswana national daily), and left the paper as its editor to run an independent media consultancy for two years.
He joined the U.S Federal Agency, the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a health communications specialist for seven years, and until 2013 when he joined the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) as an Executive Secretary.
Following a restructuring exercise at the BDP in May 2015, Sechele once again moved into media consultancy where he is presently working.
