It was a sudden visit and I did book just only one day in advance over a phone call. And I can say that the Molema Bush Camp is a better choice for one who want to experience the real African bush in budget rate. This place is really out of the other world as there is no electricity, no telephone network and any other electronic medias like television or internet. Just leave all the stress and issues of our life out of the camp and just relax and enjoy the real nature.
The camp is 10 km away from the tar road and the last 4 km is really a very rough task. I think it is not possible to reach there by a 2 wheel drive while its raining as we have to cross through the small rivers at many locations. I was using a 2 wheel drive, but it was not raining that time.
The cabin allotted for me was around 300 meter away from the other cabins and the kitchen. It was a wooden cabin with an en suit bath room. The floor of the elevated cabin also was with wood. I like the cabin location as it was under the huge trees and facing the flooded Limpopo river. A lot of big migrating birds were all around the cabin and bank of river making various sounds in the darkness at that lonely place was giving me a feel that I am somewhere in a deep forest and defiantly I did enjoy that.
If I say something about the cabin, they did provide two solar lamps as there is no electricity. Air cone or even a fan is useless there as the whole night natural wind is enough for that. But one should bring sufficient mosquito coils as we should not trust the mosquito net and coils provided by the camp. The room and bathroom was neat and clean. But one should bring the toiletries as they are providing only the TP and bathing towels. But the running hot water is available.
Regarding the small kitchen, it is common for all the cabins. But sufficient Utensils, crockery, cutlery are there with the fridge, gas stove, etc. But the pots of sugar, tea, milk power and coffee were empty as they are not providing them. So one should bring sufficient materials with them.
I did enjoy the three hours game drive even if we didn't find any predators or elephants or giraffe. But we did see meany herds of zebra, impala, kudu, wild beast, eland and few jackals, wild pigs, rabbits, etc.
I did enjoy the the weekend trip. Some suggestion for those want to go from Botswana side are buy all the necessary things either from Palapye or Phekwe. But Phekwe is 25 km far from the rout if you coming from Gaborone side. Bobonong is on the way but not available everything there as its a village. Take all the necessary things like from salt, drinks and even toiletries with you. Don't forget the mosquito coils with you. Try to use kitchen in advance if more guests are there.
Very neat rustic camp site on the bank of the Limpopo.
Very rustic , but a must stay over
Truly African experience. Lots of elephants. Lovely people.
